The Associate Director, Bioanalytical Biomarker Category Manager will directly report into the Specialty Clinical Laboratories global category Director. This position is responsible for supporting and delivering procurement related activities in Specialty Clinical Laboratories category enabling the Research objectives for BMS sponsored clinical trials. Primary responsibilities include the following: Sourcing category management of the Bioanalytical laboratory services (inclusive but not limited to pharmacokinetic testing (pK) and immunoassay assay biomarker testing) and flexing to support cross-category strategic initiatives for the Global Procurement organization at BMS.
Major Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
+ Strategic business partnering with R&D business units (Translational Development, Translational Research, Precision Medicine, Thematic Research Centers (TRCs), Drug Development, Global Development Operations, IT, etc.), along with Procurement colleagues in other categories and overseas, Legal, Strategy and Planning, Business Development, and Finance.""
+ The position will drive novel category strategies and needs to navigate a complex internal stakeholder landscape, coordinating intricate issues across multiple business units, legal, and finance."
+ Leads, teaches and directs Sourcing professionals throughout the Strategic Category Management and sourcing processes as well as key processes/skills (e.g., spend management analysis, stakeholder management, etc.).""
+ Lead sourcing events across all categories to select preferred and approved suppliers within each category, ensure all sourcing activities adhere to BMS' buying SOPs"
+ Develop, maintain and implement a 3-5-year strategic plan across bioanalytical biomarker laboratory services categories in remit, inclusive of small and diverse suppliers, and ensure all projects supporting the strategic plan deliver maximum value.
+ Ability to consolidate market, supplier, and internal business data/information to develop and implement a cohesive, business-aligned strategy at both the category and sub-category level.
+ Ensure engagement with R&D leadership by understanding their business needs and how it can be fulfilled from the marketplace as well as providing accountability for their alignment.
+ Accountable for the delivery of critical R&D agreements for strategic projects.
+ Support supplier risk management processes as required and accountability for the overall supplier relationship with BMS.
+ Ensure accurate reporting of procurement key performance measures. (operational metrics, savings, preferred supplier adherence, customer service, etc.)
+ Responsible for spotting market trends and innovative technologies to educate key stakeholders on industry leading practices, R&D suppliers, and procurement solutions.
+ Prepare and present reports on procurement activities, performance metrics, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
+ As an integral member of the Global Procurement organization, help to roll out key end to end enablement tools/systems, processes, and templates that will improve the user buying experience internally to BMS and with our external suppliers.
+ Customer Service Mindset: Ability to lead through influence rather than authority.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
+ Minimum education of a B.S./B.A. in a related field area of study is required.
+ Minimum of seven (7) years of business experience, multi-disciplined procurement experience, and/or life sciences research lab-based experience is required (sourcing or otherwise).
+ Prior R&D experience in biopharmaceuticals, pharmaceuticals, and/or medical device industry required.
+ Possess strong negotiation skills to develop preferred rates with BMS partners and knowledgeable about creative deal structuring to build enterprise-level partnerships.
+ Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally as critical member of category team and the larger R&D Procurement team.
+ Capability to lead projects/initiatives that have significant impact upon global and site business by achieving project milestones and objectives.
+ Has the ability to manage business complexities and provide road map for sustainable solutions.
+ Must have a proactive, creative and analytic approach to continuous improvement in delivering procurement services and identifying new opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Knowledge and proficiency with Ariba system & Icertis is preferred.
