    Job Summary

    The Georgia Department of Education – Finance and Business Operations is searching for an individual with a strong financial background in Budget and Legislative experience. Under the supervision of the Chief Financial Officer, the successful incumbent will perform high level accounting responsibilities for the department of Finance and Business Operations. Duties include but are not limited to:

     

    Description of Duties: Assist with legislative hearings and budget

     

    + Work with the Budget Director on state grant formulas

    + Work on Charter and completion school program budgets

    + Collaborate with the CFO and Budget Director to establish a uniform system of quality controls for state grant formulas

    + Manage lower-level accounting staff

    + Work with the State Accounting Office and assist with the budget transition for Workday

    + Assist the CFO with special projects and fill in for legislative meetings

    Preferred Qualifications : Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:

    + (3) years of QBE experience

    + Experience with the legislative process

    + Experience with Teamworks and or Workday Financials

    Bachelor's degree in accounting and six (6) years of professional accounting job-related experience, which includes four (4) years in a managerial or supervisory role; or one (1) year of experience at the lower level Sr Mgr 2. Accounting (FIM013) or Sr Mgr, Financial Reporting (FIM051) or equivalent position.
