Packaging Machine Operator
Pay: $23/Hour
Job Description
As a Packaging Machine Operator, you will oversee four machines, ensuring they are running smoothly, checking the quality and weight of products, and managing the labeling and tracking of items. You will also occasionally load and unload packaging material onto the machines.
Responsibilities
+ Inspect equipment daily to ensure cleanliness and sanitation.
+ Check metal detectors as instructed.
+ Conduct changeovers and replace packaging film as needed.
+ Coordinate proper spicing with correct packaging film.
+ Check code dates for accuracy every 15 minutes.
+ Inspect bag seams to ensure strong seals.
+ Work with quality control to maintain standards and keep applicable records.
+ Maintain efficient operation of equipment.
+ Troubleshoot and proactively solve potential equipment problems.
+ Communicate with all production associates to ensure a positive flow of production and accomplish packaging schedule goals.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum two years’ experience in operating food processing equipment.
+ Thorough knowledge of machinery and sound mechanical ability.
+ Ability to use production computer programs.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Ability to be an independent thinker and make good decisions.
+ Capability to work in a fast-paced environment under constant production line pressure.
+ Must be able to lift rolls of film weighing up to 50 pounds regularly during the shift.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ High School diploma or equivalent on-the-job experience.
+ Background in production or machine operating.
+ Experience with machine operators, sealers, and date coders.

Work Environment
Work in a warm facility during the summer, surrounded by machinery and production products such as chips and popcorn. The facility and machinery are cleaned every Friday, with a focus on sanitation for the night shift. The environment can be dirty at times due to handling chips and grease.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Algona, Washington.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.07 - $23.57/hr.
