    Job Title: Controls Technician

    Job Description

    The Controls Technician will be responsible for installing and wiring controllers and field devices, including low voltage cable terminations. This role involves coordinating the installation of HVAC Controls Systems and planning site activities for your team. You will lead installation teams in daily and weekly meetings, support the development and execution of additional services through change orders, and perform commissioning focused design reviews. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for troubleshooting systems and ensuring customer acceptance through installation inspections and closeout duties.

    Responsibilities

    + Install and wire controllers and field devices, including low voltage cable terminations.

    + Coordinate the installation of HVAC Controls Systems.

    + Plan site activities and organize job site materials, logistics, inventory, tools storage, and security/access.

    + Lead installation teams in daily and weekly meetings.

    + Support the development and execution of additional services through change orders.

    + Cutover panels and systems in retrofit projects.

    + Develop and implement Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for site activities.

    + Provide input to the project team on developing RFIs, estimating, and takeoffs for proposals.

    + Perform commissioning focused design reviews and prepare commissioning test procedures and reports.

    + Coordinate and oversee on-site testing, startup, commissioning, and closeout of HVAC Controls Systems.

    + Assist software lead with pre-functional and functional testing.

    + Execute troubleshooting of systems, including corrective actions.

    + Participate in commissioning efforts with external stakeholders.

    + Analyze system operation and demonstrate system operation to verify consistency with the contracted scope of work.

    + Perform QA/QC of systems using software tools.

    + Provide installation inspections and other closeout duties to ensure customer acceptance.

    + Provide markups for shop drawings to document as-built conditions.

    + Communicate regularly with subcontractors, project managers, clients, and commissioning agents on project progress.

    + Document and track issues and out-of-scope efforts.

    + Work autonomously in day-to-day tasks with high-level instruction on projects or assignments.

    + Discuss with technical support problems related to maintenance or operation of equipment.

    + Attend project bid walks, engineering surveys, and audits.

    + Optimize workflow and deliverables by developing templates, standards, automations, etc.

    + Assist in developing all project communication and reporting, including weekly progress reports.

    Essential Skills

    + Troubleshooting automation systems.

    + Experience with building automation systems, HVAC control, and electrical systems.

    + Proficiency in Niagara AX software.

    + Knowledge of control systems and automation.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Preferably 3-8+ years of experience with BMS/Controls.

    + Experience with systems such as JCI, Metasys, Siemens, Honeywell, Automated Logic is a plus.

    + PLC/ALC experience.

    + Experience with critical HVAC equipment like chillers, air handlers, CRAC/CRAH units, boilers, etc.

    + Requires knowledge of equipment manufacturer's specifications.

    + Niagara AX certification.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tukwila, Washington.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
