The salary range indicated in this announcement is based on the Employee/Employer retirement compensation schedule. An employer-only option is available at a reduced salary range. Generally, salaries start at the lowest level of a step 1 and increase with each year of service to the highest level of a step 10.

The Position
Administrative Assistants perform a broad variety of clerical, secretarial and administrative support duties in an assigned agency, program or other work unit within State government and the Nevada System of Higher Education.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.
The incumbent will be responsible for reception of in-person visitors, answering multiple phone lines, responding to mail, emails or faxes, monitoring and ordering supplies, processing invoices and budget reconciling, preparing Commissioners' meetings including preparing/distributing agenda packets, taking/transcribing meeting minutes, setting-up/running Zoom meetings, and archiving/warehousing closed cases. Responsibilities also include supervising/training and processing weekly time sheets for staff, arranging travel and processing travel requests and expense claims, entering data into CMS/ARC, generating reports as requested by the Administrator and/or management, working with IT to trouble shoot the agency's case management system, responding to subpoenas and record requests, providing monthly reports, assisting with EEOC requests, providing quality customer service, assisting with new hire recruitments and providing support to the Administrator as needed, and performing other clerical-related duties as needed and assigned. ***THIS RECRUITMENT MAY CLOSE WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE DEPENDING ON THE NUMBER OF APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Graduation from high school or equivalent education and three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience which included experience in one or more of the following areas: maintenance of complex records and files; public/customer relations including explaining detailed policies, regulations and requirements; preparation and processing of financial and statistical documents such as payroll, travel, claims and budgeting forms; and assisting staff and management with projects and activities; OR one year of experience as an Administrative Assistant II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required. Persons offered employment in this position will be required to pay for these items.
Additional Position Criteria
This recruitment is only open to current classified employees in state service with at least six months of continuous, full-time equivalent service.
