    Summary

    The Non-Clinical EMR Applications Analyst is responsible for supporting the implementation, optimization, and maintenance of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to enhance administrative and operational workflows, improve efficiency, and ensure regulatory compliance. This individual will work independently and collaboratively under the direction of the Health Information Manager, communicating with staff, operational teams, and the Health Information Department to support EMR functionality.

    Job Duties

    + Collaborate with administrative and operational staff (e.g., billing, scheduling, and registration teams) to assess EMR needs and optimize non-clinical workflows.

    + Configure, test, and implement EMR system updates, modules, or enhancements .

    + Analyze data to support decision-making and process improvement initiatives.

    + Troubleshoot and resolve EMR-related issues , escalating complex problems as needed.

    + Train end-users on EMR functionality and best practices.

    + Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, or other regional standards) relevant to data management.

    + Document system changes, workflows, and user guides for applications.

    + Participate in EMR system upgrades, integrations, or migrations .

    + Provide representation on operational committees (e.g., Billing, Compliance, or Administrative Operations committees).

    Other Duties

    + Build strong relationships with staff and facility leadership to support EMR adoption and optimization.

    + Monitor EMR utilization trends , identifying gaps or opportunities and developing action plans to address areas of concern.

    + Support the submission of regulatory or operational reports as required (e.g., CMS-mandated measures ).

    Required Education and Experience

     

    + Bachelor's degree in health informatics , Business Administration, Information Technology, or related field.

    + 2+ years of experience with EMR systems (e.g., Medhost , AthenaPractice , EPIC) or health information systems .

    + Proficiency in EMR configuration, data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, Power BI), and Microsoft Office.

    + Understanding of operational healthcare processes.

     

    Preferred Education and Experience

     

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address EMR issues .

    + Excellent communication skills to bridge operational and technical teams.

    + Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

    + Experience with interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR) or integration tools .

    + Knowledge of healthcare regulations and reporting requirements (e.g., HIPAA, revenue cycle compliance).

    + Adaptability to learn new EMR modules or emerging technologies .

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

     

    Full-time, on-site role working primarily standard business hours. The position may require occasional weekend work and hours before 7am or after 7pm to support system updates or operational needs.
