Your Opportunity
Reporting to the US Public Relations Manager, Public Relations Senior Specialist, US is responsible for amplifying our brand/reputation, superior technical expertise, innovative and sustainable approaches, and quality projects. Working in partnership with the associated marketing team, this role participates in the identification, generation, and dissemination of messaging, thought leadership, stories, and insight for a variety of external platforms, including owned and earned channels. The PR Senior Specialist also supports training, coordination, and counseling of professionals through crisis communications issues.
Your Key Responsibilities
Media Relations & Research
+ The PR Senior Specialist fosters and grows relationships with members of industry and mainstream media in major US markets. Working with marketing team members across the US, the individual will devise and execute creative outreach strategies that connect our projects and people with broader trends and news cycles.
+ The PR Senior Specialist will proactively cultivate strategic and empowering experiences for thought leaders (and clients) to participate in national/business line opportunities including guest columns/byline articles, news and feature articles, webinar presentations, podcast interviews, and other emerging external media opportunities to highlight the work we do, why it matters, and the science and innovation behind it.
+ Additionally, this position will collaborate with the public relations team to maintain industry media lists for media outreach and track key media engagement metrics for internal and external reporting on media presence.
Social Media & Digital Strategy
+ The PR Senior Specialist serves as an advisor for social media strategy to internal clients offering guidance on the full spectrum of opportunities, from personal digital brand development to content strategy. They are responsible for leveraging the company's corporate channels to amplify strategic, business-focused content and campaigns. Additionally, the role uses digital resources (e.g. Hootsuite, Muck Rack, Google Analytics, Amplify) to track industry conversations and/or activate team members to amplify our content.
External New Business Positioning
+ Works with the US PR Manager – and the broader public relations team – to help deliver integrated public relations and marketing plans for pursuit positioning for top projects and key markets/sectors.
Brand Support – Copywriting & Editing
+ Strong storytelling and writing skills are essential for this role. The PR Senior Specialist will become a champion of the Stantec brand and an expert in implementing Stantec’s branded voice and Style Guide. The PR Senior Specialist develops dynamic content, and tailors and edits existing content for external communications channels, while working as a creative editorial manager for content produced by others.
Collaboration/Brainstorming
+ The PR Senior Specialist participates in larger public relations and digital team meetings to discuss initiatives. The role also contributes to brainstorming sessions for story and promotional campaign development and content marketing strategies.
Benchmarking & Campaign Evaluation
+ The PR Senior Specialist provides data-driven counsel to leaders and internal clients. Using the team’s suite of measurement and analytics tools, this individual will track campaign metrics while having the proactive mindset to adjust those efforts to meet objectives. Furthermore, the PR Senior Specialist is fluent in industry trends while consistently thinking of new and emerging tactics to deploy in support of campaign goals.

Demonstrated experience with:
+ Professional writing (samples required)
+ Campaign planning and facilitation
+ Build and maintain relationships with a wide range of media personnel
+ Craft and pitch stories, guest column, strategic media placements
+ Social media strategy and administration
+ Crisis communication
Other Requirements:
+ Detail-oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills
+ Ability to effectively balance multiple priorities
+ Fundamental understanding of the media landscape (traditional, social, digital)
+ Excellent interviewing, written and verbal communication skills
+ Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment, as well as to work autonomously
+ Ability to quickly establish credibility with multiple audiences and articulate clearly within tight deadlines
+ Strategic mindset and strong business acumen
+ Exhibit passion and grit to build a movement and do what it takes to get the work done
Education and Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, English, journalism, or marketing or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
+ Minimum 5 to 8 years of public relations experience in corporate or agency preferred. AEC industry experience is preferred.

Salary Range(s):
* Outside NYC $37.00 Per Hour - Outside NYC $53.00 Per Hour Min/Max Pay Range(s) for postings located in MN, NYC/NY
* $40.00 Per Hour - $59.00 Per Hour Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO, HI, MD and IL
* $43.00 Per Hour - $63.00 Per Hour Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA and DC
* SF Area $46.00 / Other CA Areas $40.00 Per Hour - SF Area $67.00 / Other CA Areas $63.00 Per Hour Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CA (SF Area includes SF, SJS & WLC)
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
