Position Title: Senior Database Specialist (Onsite)

Overview: Avant Garde is seeking a Senior Database Specialist to support our federal client. The ideal candidate will bring over 15 years of federal onsite experience and deep expertise in database design, management, and data governance. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who understands federal workflows and security protocols and can implement robust, scalable database solutions in a secure environment.

Responsibilities:

+ Design, develop, and maintain relational databases, data warehouses, and ETL processes.

+ Manage and optimize database systems including SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.

+ Perform data analysis, modeling, and integration using tools such as ERwin or equivalent.

+ Develop and maintain stored procedures, functions, and triggers to support application development.

+ Implement and enforce Data Governance frameworks to ensure data quality and compliance.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align database systems with agency workflows and policies.

+ Ensure all database solutions meet federal security standards such as FISMA and FedRAMP.

+ Support migrations or integrations with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

Requirements:

+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field (Master’s preferred).

+ Minimum of 15 years of federal onsite experience, particularly supporting agency policies and workflows.

+ Proficiency with SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, and modern data modeling tools.

+ Strong understanding of Data Governance and compliance standards.

+ Familiarity with federal security protocols and standards.

Preferred:

+ Experience with cloud-based database environments.

+ Knowledge of developing and maintaining stored procedures and triggers.
