Goodyear. More Driven.
Overview:
The GTIS team is seeking a highly motivated Algorithm Development Engineer to design and implement advanced signal processing and machine learning algorithms for tire-mounted sensor (TMS) systems. These systems are central to enabling next-generation tire intelligence for connected, autonomous, and electric vehicles.
This role combines tire physics, data-driven modeling, and embedded signal processing to extract meaningful insights from raw sensor data. You will work closely with multi-disciplinary teams across software, electronics, and tire engineering to push the boundaries of smart sensing.
Key Responsibilities
• Develop signal processing pipelines for data collected from tire-mounted sensors and vehicle sensor signal data.
• Design and implement algorithms to estimate tire and road surface conditions using physics-based models and data-driven approaches.
• Build and validate physics based and machine learned models using lab and vehicle test data.
• Collaborate with tire modelers and vehicle dynamics teams to ensure consistency between physical behavior and algorithm outputs.
• Translate algorithms into real-time embedded code for on-tire or gateway execution.
• Support IP generation and contribute to technical publications or external collaborations.
• Engage in algorithm benchmarking and performance validation under diverse road, load, and environmental conditions.
Qualifications
• Master’s in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of tire mechanics, tire-road interaction, and vehicle dynamics.
• Experience in time-series signal processing (FFT, filtering, statistical features, spectral analysis).
• Proficiency in machine learning techniques (e.g., supervised learning, classification, regression, clustering) applied to sensor data.
• Exposure to physical modeling frameworks (e.g., MF-Tyre, FTire, CDTire) and multibody simulation tools.
• Hands-on experience with algorithm development in MATLAB/Simulink
• Familiarity with embedded system constraints and implementation of lightweight models.
Technical Skills & Competencies
• Deep expertise in sensor signal processing
• Experience working with high-frequency data from tire or chassis sensors.
• Familiarity with estimation and classification models used in edge devices.
• Skilled in managing noisy or uncertain sensor data in real-world conditions.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to bridge physics-based modeling and data-driven learning.
• Ability to work cross-functionally with electronics, software, and tire engineers.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative working style.
