    Description

    Mission Assurance Specialty Engineer

     

    Multi-disciplined engineer within Launch Community provides specialized engineering tasks (including but not limited to mission assurance team support, anomaly investigations and studies). Will apply extensive technical expertise and has knowledge of other related disciplines. Responsibilities include independent technical assessments and engineering evaluations based on expert knowledge and analysis and review of launch vehicle systems and interfaces.

    Specific duties include:

    + Provide launch vehicle hardware and launch expertise.

    + Provide Independent Risk Assessment of mission-specific launch vehicle hardware readiness.

    + Monitor and assess fleet wide issues affecting mission assurance.

    + Support LV contractor reviews to assess progress, issues, and meeting mission requirements traceability.

    + Support program initiatives for multiple launch vehicle service providers.

    + Generate lessons learned that can be shared across disciplines and launch enterprise-wide.

    + Interface with key mission personnel from mission partners including launch vehicle contractors, USSF program offices, NASA and other mission stakeholder groups.

    + Maintain familiarity with strategic initiatives and updates to US space policy.

    + Generates reports and presentations for launch enterprise internal and external reviews.

    + Retain cognizance over all launch related studies and provide leadership with timely and relevant assessments.

    Qualifications

    + Bachelor’s Degree (STEM).

    + 14 years of space launch experience.

    + Extensive knowledge of NRO/OSL launch policy and procedures.

    + Ability to perform thorough analysis and quick issue resolution simultaneously.

    + Substantive experience providing risk assessments and risk management recommendations in support of successful mission accomplishment.

    + Must communicate effectively with senior management as well as employees at all levels and demonstrate effective writing skills.

    Desired Education, Certifications, Skills, Expertise, Years of Experience:

    + Master’s Degree.

    + 20 years of space launch experience.

     

    Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
