About the unit
MedSurg is our 44 bed unit that provides direct care for the general Medical Surgical population in Ludington, Mason County and surrounding counties in West Michigan.
They Care for mainly the General Medical Patient Population, which could be patients with a wide variety of diagnoses, pneumonia, cellulitis, kidney failure, hyperglycemia, Diabetic Issues, Ulcers, Confused Elderly, Alcohol Abuse, Acute/Chronic Kidney Injury, Sepsis, Psychiatric Population.

Scope of work
The Unit Secretary is the “go to” on each unit for clerical support. Responsibilities include taking phone calls, helping with directions to all visitors or outside team members to the unit (lab, radiology, patient transport, nutrition services, environmental services), calling support when directed by clinical staff, assisting with discharge, admit, and transfer paperwork, ordering supplies, ensuring rooms are appropriately stocked, answering call lights for any non-direct patient care needs, etc.
The Unit Secretary role is a very fast-paced role requiring strong communication skills, the ability to prioritize and multitask. You will often be tasked with multiple requests by various teammates and clear communication and prioritization of your responsibilities will be necessary
Performs receptionist/secretarial duties for this unit of the hospital and maintains confidential records, supplies and equipment per hospital and unit specific standards.
Qualifications
+ High School Diploma or equivalent experience required
+ 2 years of related experience is referred
