Job Description
**STATEMENT OF PURPOSE:** Provides job readiness training, on-the-job instruction, and ongoing support to enhance photographic opportunities and enhancement for participants with a vision impairment. Aids in classroom instruction, city travel and trains individuals photographic and video skills that meet the needs.
**RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE WORK OF OTHERS:** Directly oversees the work and support of the Instructional Assistant and Youth Participants
**TRAVEL REQUIRED:** Throughout the City of Chicago.
SPECIFIC ACTIVITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
+ Participate in a mandatory training on working and interacting with individuals who are blind or visually impaired
+ “Person first” language
+ Sighted guide
+ Self-determination
+ Blind etiquette
+ Overview of the Lighthouse
+ Lead instruction and implementation of the Media for All Curriculum
+ Support the scheduling of Media for All events, speakers, travel itineraries, etc.
+ Assist in designing and enhancing curricula to develop skills that meet current labor market demand; prepares training and quick reference materials for the courses in accessible formats;
+ Provides all necessary support services or referrals for such services to ensure success of enrolled participants;
+ Provides technical assistance as needed
+ Provides technical assistance and awareness training about the impact of disability on the job performance to employers and co-workers;
+ Assists with lunch (eating and table etiquette);
+ Maintains accurate and complete records as required;
+ Assists in integrating the worker into all aspects of the work environment;
+ Responsible for adhering to building security procedures and taking appropriate measures in case of accident, illness or emergency;
+ Collaborates to provide coaching;
+ Projects professional agency image and programs to contacts within private industry and other groups;
+ Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High school diploma (or equivalent) required; or minimum of 20 college credit hours preferred;
+ Strong organizational and communication skills required;
