    Develops, prepares, and analyzes financial and operating data while performing a variety of accounting duties. Assists with completion of other department projects.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Prepare and distribute customer invoices, maintaining current customer demographics.

    + Research and respond to inquiries from other Nelnet departments.

    + Research and respond to inquiries from customers and suppliers.

    + Assist with financial statement preparation and consolidation of financial statements.

    + Perform calculations, posting of journal entries, analysis, and reporting related to GAAP accounting transactions.

    + Apply results of research to the Company’s operations and/or specific transactions.

    + Reconcile accounts, research using advanced problem solving, and resolution within corporate standards.

    + Assist with various accounting projects and report on performance.

    + Document, report and follow through on recommendations from projects.

    + Manage expectations through timely updates.

    + Work with external organizations and internal departments on project initiatives and various accounting issues.

    **Pay Range for this role is - $55,000 - $60,000

    EDUCATION:

    4-year degree in accounting

    EXPERIENCE:

    1+ years accounting experience preferred

    COMPETENCIES – SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES:

    + Proficient skills in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook. Ability to create Excel documents using a variety of formulas and Excel tools.

    + Strong accountability for work: timely completion of tasks, working with manager to develop and achieve position goals, communication of task/project delays.

    + Able to prioritize and deliver under deadline constraints and manage multiple tasks.

    + Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.

    + Ability to work with a team or independently with initiative and appropriate supervision.

    + Excellent oral and written communication skills.

    + Strong interpersonal skills.

    + Understanding of complex accounting concepts and strong knowledge of GAAP, including consolidation accounting.
