**Summary** :
This leadership position is primarily responsible for overseeing and coordinating sterile compounding activities in locations that compound sterile products. This includes:
- Developing and leading a comprehensive sterile compounding training program to ensure we have adequate staff trained to support our sterile compounding needs
- Responsibility for ensuring our compounding spaces meet all regulatory compliance requirements (e.g., EM sampling, certification, cleaning, personnel requirements, etc.)
- Use metrics and employee observations to ensure staff members follow policies and standard procedures and meet staffing needs while building teamwork and increasing employee engagement in daily operations.
- Triages workload and escalates issues as necessary to the Pharmacy Leadership team, including assessing workload to adjust staffing as needed.
- Uses staff engagement to identify and prioritize process improvement needs relating to workflow
- Oversees the management of all pharmacy automation and technology related to the clean room space
**Job Requirements** :
**1)** Education/Training:
- Develops, Updates, and Coordinates training for new personnel in USP 797, USP 800, and all sterile compounding processes and equipment (e.g., TPN, equipment, devices, etc.)
- Monitors, assesses, and updates workflows based on the new process, regulations, etc.
- Ensures standardized practices/workflows are being followed by working with designated trainers to observe and refine practice
- Responsible for oversight of trainee sign-off
**2)** Regulatory / Compliance:
- EM Sampling, Cleaning, Certifications, and Employee testing/competency
- Maintains knowledge of regulatory requirements (USP, Massachusetts, JC, etc.) and updates workflows and policies/procedures as needed
**3)** Sterile Compounding Safety and Performance/Workflows
- Uses data to assess sterile compounding (DE, EM, etc.) performance and quality, including compounding volumes to support insourcing/outsourcing
- Maintains accurate barcode scanning to ensure safe medication practices
- Identifies and addresses employee performance issues
- Maintains and develops policies and procedures to establish standard practice expectations for compounding personnel
- Responsible for reporting data/metrics to the team which demonstrate workflow quality, safety concerns, staffing/volume information, or other data points to help support departmental goals or address issues/concerns
**Minimally Work Experience** :
**1)** 3 years leadership
**2)** 5 years preceptor/educator experience
**Preferred Work Experience** :

**2)** Interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
**3)** Knowledge of computer systems (i.e., Microsoft applications, Clinical Information Systems, PharmAcademic)
