    Description

    The Goizueta Business School's BBA office is in search of a Director of Student Life & Leadership to join their team.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Reporting to the Senior Associate Dean and Director of the BBA Program, the Director of Student Life and Leadership is responsible for leading and directing key aspects of student life in the BBA Program Office including: BBA Council and Club Advising for 20 divisional clubs, overseeing conference programming, running the case competition team, and supporting a cadre of academic advisees.

    + As a member of the BBA Program Office, the director will work with academic advisees to create academic plans based on the educational goals of each advisee.

    + Will hold one-on-one meetings with advisees to make sure students complete degree requirements for graduation; will maintain relationships with key resources across campus and refer students when needed.

    + As a key member of the team that is focused on co-curricular learning and development for students the director represents the BBA Program on several important committees including the Dean's and Director's committee, the Emory University Club Advising Committee, and serves as the primary advisor for the BBA Council.

    + Works with members of the Program office team on a number of programs including diversity admissions programming, graduation, and orientation scholars' events.

    + Responsible for the execution and oversight of several key aspects of BBA Program's Program including the following: Case Competitions Identifies and coordinates student teams to represent the BBA Program for high profile case competitions all over the country.

    + Organizes and delivers case competition information sessions for BBAs.

    + Works with Emory University's Office of General Council to ensure that all legal compliance forms are completed prior to student travel.

    + Works with the divisional student clubs to recruit students to participate in case competitions.

    + Works closely with faculty to recruit, identify, and mentor student teams in preparation for competitions.

    + Remains available to traveling students 24/7 while attending the case competition as a point of contact for Emory University.

    + Advise BBA Council Advises BBA Council Members on all aspects of council business.

    + Holds regular/ weekly meeting with key Council Officers including the President and Executive VP for BBA Council, the VP of Finance, and the VP of Club, in addition to others.

    + Advises and mentors Class representatives for the Class Gift Campaign.

    + Holds regular meetings with the VP of Clubs and EVP.

    + Attends evening and weekend council meetings and events.

    + Works with the Executive VP and SILT to coordinate the elections process.

    + Facilitates BBA Council Focus group and develops report for the BBA Program review report.

    + Trains BBA Council and student leaders to mentor newly admitted students to the BBA Program at orientation. Coordinates and executes event attendance tracking (with GTS and EMORY One Card) for all BBA Council and Club Events to track BBA student participation.

    + Drafts student life content for marketing materials.

    + Works with SILT on club advisor training for the summer so students have a consistent experience of support for club leaders.

    + Hosts Club leader transition lunch/dinners to encourage a seamless transition of leadership from one year to the next for twenty organizations.

    + Hosts BBA Council Transition Lunch/Dinner to encourage a seamless transition of leadership from one year to the next.

    + Member of the graduation committee and awards committee and works with fellow administrators like Athletics to understand and celebrate student achievements across the Emory Campus.

    + Organizes and attends BBA Council annual retreat.

    + Serves as primary liaison with the Office of Student Involvement, Leadership & Transition (SILT).

    + BBA Council and Club Advising Chartering of the GBSA: Works with existing students to re-establish the club to create a support network for traditionally underrepresented students in the BBA Program.

    + Hosts Diversity Pre-BBA Preview Day.

    + Works with contacts at SEO and MLT to help current students dealing with Program scheduling conflicts.

    + Facilitates the student club speaker gift process.

    + Works closely with Senior Reps on graduation celebration and the class gift campaign.

    + Advise the UBSLC Exec board Works closely with the UBSLC chair to stay on budget.

    + Acts as the central point of contact for administrators at partner schools.

    + Oversees forty-five delegates from twenty-three schools attended.

    + Attends the conference and works with the committee in the planning but also on issues taking place during the event.

    + Holds weekly meetings with the UBSCL Chair from July until the conference takes place in February.

    + Academic Advising Advises 100+ seniors, juniors, and sophomores annually to create customized academic plans.

    + Holds Advisee lunches/ dinners with assigned cohort of advisees to answer questions.

    + Responds to student inquiries via email or in person.

    + Helps students access the services of emergency health care and counseling.

    + Conducts 360 assessment with new advisees to develop relationships with them.

    + University Committee Service Member of the Student Services Deans/Directors of Campus Life committee for Emory University.

    + Serves on the Campus Life Advising Philosophy Committee.

    + Attends Mental Health @ Emory Meetings.

    + Serves on Emory University Graduation Awards Committee.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + A bachelor's degree in the school's or program's area of specialty or a related field.

    + Four years of experience in student affairs, advising, registration, financial aid, or related field.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + An advanced degree in a relevant field of study.

    + Expert in Student Development theory who is dedicated to facilitating development by creating meaningful learning opportunities for college students.

    + Should have a history of developing and delivering effective programming for students.

    + Considerable experience with presenting and public speaking.

     

    NOTE: Position tasks are generally required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location. Remote work from home day options may be granted at department discretion. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.
