Overview

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join the Buildings MEP group in our Philadelphia, PA office. The Mechanical Engineer will work alongside engineers and architects as part of a design team applying mechanical engineering principles towards the successful design of low to mid-rise new construction projects, as well as evaluating existing buildings for renovations or reuse.

We provide a full range of mechanical engineering services to municipal, commercial, higher education and public works agencies, partnering with clients to design buildings from the ground-up or to renovate existing buildings to optimize their use. From designing new and renovated systems, to providing both new building commissioning and retro-commissioning services, count on our team to develop a building solution that is both cost-effective and achieves our clients’ goals.

Our engineers work with clients from concept through construction to create customized, cost-effective solutions that enhance the health, welfare, safety and comfort of building occupants. Our experts are skilled at reducing energy usage while creating comfortable interior environments. Our designs emphasize performance and are built with long-term facility operations in mind. Decisions are driven by objective data and in-depth client collaboration.

Responsibilities

+ Acquire knowledge and develop basic skills in building HVAC and plumbing design.

+ Apply learned techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks.

+ Demonstrate the ability to prepare low-level complexity general engineering designs and/or technical data for completion and accuracy.

+ Demonstrate the ability to apply the fundamentals of Mechanical engineering concepts and principles to assigned design tasks.

+ Assist with other project related tasks such as field work, design, documentation, coordination, and CAD work.

+ Exercise judgment on details of work and work under direct supervision on all aspects of tasks assigned.

+ Work within Revit and AutoCAD to successfully produce construction documents within established budgets and deadlines.

+ Perform site visits and field investigations.

Qualifications

+ Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering with Mechanical Emphasis from an ABET accredited University.

+ 1-3 years' experience.

+ Engineering in Training (EIT) certification preferred.

+ Experience in Autodesk Revit and AutoCAD.

+ Demonstrate basic investigative, analytical and research skills.

+ Demonstrate general computer skills, knowledge and acumen (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite, design software, etc.).

+ Ability to learn and apply technical skills and knowledge.

+ Ability to effectively work as part of a team (i.e. collaborate, contribute, respect others).

+ Demonstrate basic knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, principles and practices.

+ Demonstrate basic, general writing, editing and proofreading skills.

+ Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
