    Pay Range: $73,261.00 - $112,336.00

     

    The defined benefit team provides plan design, actuarial valuation, administration, and consulting services to qualified defined benefit, including cash balance retirement plans. The Actuarial Analyst Team Lead works under the supervision of the Director of the Defined Benefit Department, in close contact with the defined benefit actuary supervising the Actuarial Analysts, to prepare annual actuarial valuations, support the ongoing administration of defined benefit pension plans and promote the highest levels of client satisfaction by reviewing client deliverables and mentoring the analyst team.

    Education and Experience:

    + Bachelor's degree in mathematics, actuarial science, or related field

    + A minimum of ten (10) years of pension actuarial experience or equivalent combination of education/experience

    + Society of Actuaries Designation or ASPPA Qualified Pension Administrator (QPA) is preferred.

    Skills and Abilities:

    + Outstanding analytical and mathematical skills including understanding of actuarial science, probability and statistics.

    + Demonstrated knowledge of IRS regulations and ERISA requirements covering Defined Benefits Pension Plans, and experience administering a broad range of plan design options, including complex allocation formulas and benefit payments.

    + Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, various database platforms, modeling software and DB applications.

    + Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively to a variety of audiences

    + Excellent organization and prioritization skills.

    + Demonstrated leadership aptitude.

     

    ​

    Tasks Performed:

    + 40% Calculates annual pension plan minimum funding, maximum deductible contribution amounts, and pension funding and accounting reports for review by the Actuary. Manages timelines, delegates tasks, and provides guidance and mentorship to junior actuarial analysts.

    + 30% Assists client and Actuarial Analysts with inquiries and requests related to pension plans. Makes recommendations that meet the needs of client goals. Reviews benefit calculations and administers plan in accordance with plan document. Performs annual non-discrimination testing of the defined benefit pension plan. Acts as a point of escalation for more complex problems.

    + 25% Performs special calculations and analysis as needed at the request of the Actuary. Identifies opportunities to improve processes and deliverables, and enhance our operational efficiency. Supports new plan proposal process. Mentors analysts through client issues to meet client SLAs.

    + 5% Other duties as assigned.
