Are you organized, proactive, and ready to support a thriving academic environment? The Biology Department is looking for a Stores Supervisor to manage our stockroom and assist with essential business functions. In this role, you'll oversee inventory, process purchases, track equipment, and support budgeting and financial reporting. You'll also help train student assistants, communicate departmental policies, and occasionally make local supply runs. Opportunities to Contribute
+ Prepares weekly, year-end, and routine financial reports, including stockroom billing, activity summaries, and financial statements.
+ Handles purchasing and invoicing tasks; enters and reviews purchase requisitions for the Biology stockroom and service centers.
+ Monitors and reconciles accounts and budget portions related to the stockroom and departmental service centers.
+ Investigates transaction errors and coordinates corrective actions.
+ Maintains business files and assists with specialized projects and departmental activities.
+ Disseminates service center information to faculty, staff, and students; responds to routine vendor and departmental inquiries.
+ Orders supplies, stocks shelves, rotates inventory, and updates stockroom database with sales and receipts.
+ Drives university vehicle to purchase supplies locally as needed.
+ Receives, checks in, and delivers items from vendors; locates and tags new equipment.
+ Enters inventory data into FAMIS; performs spot checks and prepares annual inventory certifications and verifications.
+ Communicates stockroom policies, including chemical purchasing and handling procedures.
+ Trains and supervises stockroom assistants and supports other departmental service centers.
Qualifications
+ High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Four years of related experience in warehousing and maintaining inventory, including related supervisory experience.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
+ Driver’s License.
A well-qualified candidate will also possess
+ Experience in storekeeping, including work in maintaining inventory, stock, and fiscal records.
+ Experience with Texas A&M University equipment inventory systems.
+ Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
+ Basic knowledge of scientific equipment associated with genetics, microbiology, chemistry, and life sciences.
+ Knowledge of proper preparation and handling of biologicals, chemicals, and glassware.
+ Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to ensure understanding.
+ Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
+ Working knowledge of online purchasing systems (Ex: Aggiebuy).
+ Knowledge accounting software (Ex: FAMIS, Canopy, and Quickbooks,).
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected hire’s education and experience.
