The DSP Analytics Team has an exciting opportunity for a Principal Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to make an impact on the Amazon’s Delivery Service Partner (DSP) program.

    We are looking for looking for an experienced, innovative, and strategic Principal BIE who can think holistically through multidimensional problems to understand how various data systems, processes, tooling and analytics products/solutions work together to identify strategic opportunities & projects. This role is a strategic partner for tech and product leaders to drive DSP program improvements through data & insights, with focus on key areas such as safety, sustainability, profitability and experience . In this role, you will work closely with multiple engineering teams, product managers, program managers, and org leaders to deliver end-to-end data solutions and experiences. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, highly analytical, and detailed with strong customer obsession and think big approach to drive strategy in a high-growth, fast-paced environment.

     

    This role is part of central DSP Product Tech & Data org, and the scope will span across all DSP business functions. This Principal BIE will set the standard in business intelligence for the DSP organization, establishes best practices and align teams and orgs toward simple, coherent approaches. You will lead the design, implementation, and delivery of BI solutions in a highly ambiguous and significantly complex problem such as on road Safety, Incentive strategy etc that have a long-term, cross org impact on both DSP business and technology. You will make high decisions around when to invest in producing new solutions vs refactoring or even deprecating, existing solutions. Principal BIE will serve as a mentor and technical expert to guide the BIEs, Data Engineers, Business Analyst (BA) and Data Scientist community across the org, and will help with critical path coding/scripting/reviews.

    Key job responsibilities

    1. Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-wide, cross functional BI strategies and solutions

    2. Provide thought leadership in data visualization, Data Science, Gen AI and storytelling techniques

    3. Collaborate with executive leadership to align BI initiatives with business objectives.

    4. Contribute individually for complex new data solutions requiring ETL development, Data modeling, SQL development, Report and Dashboard generations.

    5. Conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover actionable business insights using advance descriptive and predictive techniques.

    6. Develop and implement statistical models and algorithms.

    6. Perform ad-hoc analysis to answer core business questions, and share insights with leaders and cross org partners to drive improvements.

    7. Hire, mentor and guide BI engineers, Data Engineers, Data Scientists and analysts, fostering a culture of data-driven decision making.

    8. Develop and implement best practices and artifacts for Metrics/KPIs governance, quality, and security.

    9. Evaluate and recommend new BI approaches and technologies to enhance the organization's capabilities.

    10. Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and industry standards

    Basic Qualifications

    - 10+ years of professional experience in the field of data analytics, business intelligence, data science, or similar domain

     

    - 5+ years of SQL experience

     

    - Experience programming to extract, transform and clean large (multi-TB) data sets

    - Experience with theory and practice of designing experiments and statistical analysis of results

    - Experience in scripting for automation (e.g. Python) and advanced SQL skills

     

    - Experience communicating data to non-technical stakeholders through written and verbal forms

     

    - Bachelor's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Past experience in Logistics, Safety, Telematics or Behavior analytics

     

    - Scaling data insights through GenAI solutions

     

    - Master's degree in statistics, data science, or an equivalent quantitative field

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $241,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
