    As a Software Engineer on the EC2 Substrate Operator Safety team, you will be building and developing brand new software systems. You will solve mission critical development and operations problems throughout the global presence for EC2. You’d design and own robust systems with cloud scale best practices. You’d leverage deep experience of running a critical service with zero downtime, eliminating scalability bottlenecks and monitoring in every dimension.

    About the team

    Substrate Operator Safety owns the foundational infrastructure for EC2 operators, alarming on non-compliant actions in near real time and providing safe operator tooling. Our vision is to help EC2 operate the most secure cloud computing platform in the world. We want our customers to be confident that their data and applications are as secure as possible while they run on EC2.

    Basic Qualifications

    - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

     

    - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

     

    - Experience programming with at least one software programming language

    Preferred Qualifications

    - Master's degree in computer science or equivalent

     

    - Experience in machine learning, data mining, information retrieval, statistics or natural language processing

     

    - 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

    Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
