Description
As a central team within Global People Analytics and Compensation Excellence carries out strategic initiatives that impact all Amazonians worldwide and is responsible for defining policies and guidelines, designing and executing global programs, and standardizing and optimizing processes and products. We regularly use data to examine program execution and pitch ideas/drive conversations with Amazon’s senior leadership. We also partner closely with Compensation Sci-Tech team to build scientific solutions to optimize compensation spend for long term returns.
We are now looking for a self-driven and experienced Business Intelligence Engineer to help create the overall strategy of leveraging data to improve program effectiveness and optimize policy design. In this role, you will:
- Identify critical metrics and establish essential analysis to measure the health, effectiveness and efficiency of the programs carried out by the team.
- Establish an ongoing mechanism to inspect compensation policy implementation and discover gaps due to new business needs.
- Invent new ways to analyze data and leverage modeling to help define/revise compensation policy, guidelines and practices.
- Partner with Data Engineers and Software Engineers to design products and systems to transform and store data items using AWS redshift.
- Create self-service solution to enable real time audit, present overall program impacts and facilitate decision making.
Key job responsibilities
Support Compensation and Talent Management reporting and analytics through automated reporting, trend analysis, and process automation.
Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of analyzing and interpreting data with Redshift, Oracle, NoSQL etc. experience
- Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools
- Experience with data modeling, warehousing and building ETL pipelines
- Experience in Statistical Analysis packages such as R, SAS and Matlab
- Experience using SQL to pull data from a database or data warehouse and scripting experience (Python) to process data for modeling
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with AWS solutions such as EC2, DynamoDB, S3, and Redshift
- Experience in data mining, ETL, etc. and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
