    OVERVIEW:

    Marc Jacobs International, powered by the creative genius of Marc Jacobs, seeks a Senior Manager of Accounting to join the Accounting team based in its New York City (SoHo) headquarters. The Senior Manager applies IFRS and company accounting principles and appropriate internal controls to ensure the integrity of the general ledger and financial reporting.

     

    The Senior Manager reports to the Controller while leading and coaching a team of subject matter experts providing accounting for companies in North America and providing guidance to international subsidiaries on policy and technical accounting as needed.  The Senior Manager will be the primary leader of the month end closing, audit defense and limited financial reporting.

    RESPONSIBILITIES :

    + Contributes actively to the continuous improvement process at company

    + Manages month end closing and critical reporting to internal stakeholders maintaining oversight and approvals for the accounting team to ensure a timely close

    + Responsible for review of accounting teams journal entries and providing guidance including driving efficiencies and improvements within the team

    + Oversees integrity of fixed asset subledger and appropriate accounting principles are applied for capitalization of long term, capital spending including recognizing a capital expenditure, related depreciation expense and end of life procedure

    + Review and ensure all leases and sub-leases are accounted for in compliance with IFRS16 and maintained accurately in the lease accounting software

    + Responsible for review and preparation of certain balance sheet reconciliations and presentation.

    + Manages the completion of bank reconciliations and resolution for reconciling items, if any

    + Analyze results and policy to ensure financial positions are accurately reflected and supportable for internal and external audits

    + Delivers periodic reports to local US management team providing key insights for actual results and comparisons to prior year actuals

    + Serve as subject matter expert for foreign subsidiaries pro-actively and periodically reviewing the results and balance sheet positions

    + Develops expert knowledge of the information/transaction systems utilized within company periodically reviewing and maintaining critical master data and key processes impacting accounting results

    + Reports annual insurance coverages required working with the company insurance representative periodically reviewing requirements to file claims, declare new locations or close existing locations

    + Assists the Reporting Manager in reporting key areas of information in the consolidation tool around owned areas of responsibility.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Academic: Accounting degree, at least BS (MS is a plus)

    + Certifications: CPA or CMA are preferred, but not required – good corporate / extensive audit experienced candidates without certifications are welcome to apply

    + Experience: 10+ years in any combination public / private mix of experience, preference for consumer goods experience

    + Must have experience managing a team of direct reports

    + Must demonstrate understanding and experience of accounting principles, specifically IFRS 16 or ASC 842

    + Highly skilled in active observation, root cause analysis and written/oral communication for communication at all levels of the organization

    + Must have strong working knowledge of Excel with strong preference for candidates with ERP solutions.  Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) a plus

    + Must maintain integrity throughout work product balancing attention to detail with a connection to the big picture

    + Must manage the function as a customer service organization within Marc Jacobs

    + Experience within wholesale, retail, eCommerce fashion industry is a major advantage, but we encourage all candidates with experience in consumer goods to apply

    + Must be able to independently build analytical reports which can be updated regularly and efficiently capable of presentation to business executives to support relevant, timely business decisions

    SALARY & BENEFITS/WHAT WE OFFER:

    The compensation for this position ranges from $145,000 - $155,000  (annually). The rate of pay offered will be dependent upon candidate’s relevant skills and experience.
