Description

We are looking for a detail-oriented Medical Collections Specialist to join our team in Burr Ridge, Illinois. This Contract-to-Permanent position focuses on managing billing and collection activities while ensuring compliance with healthcare reimbursement policies. The ideal candidate will collaborate closely with insurance providers and patients to resolve outstanding balances and streamline payment processes.

Responsibilities:

• Verify insurance benefits and negotiate payment rates for new patients in collaboration with the Reimbursement Supervisor.

• Handle billing functions and insurance-related tasks for multiple branches.

• Provide clear explanations of charges to insurance providers and patients as needed.

• Monitor unbillable claims and prepare detailed status reports for the Reimbursement Supervisor.

• Collect and organize all necessary documentation required for accurate billing.

• Follow up on outstanding balances with insurance companies and patients to ensure timely resolution.

• Develop and implement payment plans in coordination with insurers and patients.

• Submit claims with complete and accurate documentation to ensure proper processing.

• Review claims rejected by the Clearing House and resolve errors promptly.

• Process appeals and re-determinations for denied claims when necessary.

The salary range for this position is $22/hr to $26.00/hr. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance. Requirements • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.

• Experience with healthcare billing software, such as Accurint, Allscripts, or Cerner Technologies, is preferred.

• Familiarity with insurance company portals, including Medicare and Availity, is a plus.

• Proficiency in accounts receivable, claim administration, and collection processes.

• Knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems and dynamic data exchange (DDE).

• Strong skills in handling appeals and resolving billing discrepancies.

• Ability to sit for prolonged periods while performing job duties.
