    OVERVIEW:

    The Department of Administrative and Financial Services (DAFS) Office of Information Technology (OIT) provides information technology support to over 13,000 employees. OIT oversees large scale enterprise applications that support the critical and diverse business needs of the State of Maine and its agencies. This position is within the Computing Infrastructure & Services (CIS) group.

    ABOUT THE JOB DETAILS:

    This position is the top-tier support and technical subject matter expert with experience inenterprise storage and backup solutions, server administration, and Azure/Microsoft 365.The CIS group within the Office of Information Technology offers professional and technical enterprise services to agencies. This position requires a deep technical understanding of a breadth of technologies including enterprise storage solutions (for example: Pure Storage, Cohesity, NetApp, EMC, or similar), server administration, Windows Server, Microsoft 365 Administration, Active Directory, PowerShell, Python, and security and compliance standards. This position handles most of the day-to-day operations for supporting the Cohesity storage servers. This position works with other teams in the Computing Infrastructure & Services group, application development staff, the security team, network team, agency resources, project managers, and senior staff. This position guides and works to help build skills across the team with standard operating procedures and documentation on best practices and compliance. Work is performed under limited supervision. This position is in Augusta. The CIS Group requires 24x7 server support. This position requires participation in an On-Call rotation.

     

    WHAT YOU WILL DO?

     

    + Provide internal (OIT) tier-3 support for Cohesity Storage, Pure Storage, Brocade Fiber Channel Switches, Microsoft 365 and Windows Server Services support in an enterprise environment

    + Responsible for overseeing, installing, diagnosing, maintaining and administering Cohesity Storage environment

    + Responsible for overseeing, installing, diagnosing, maintaining and Pure Storage environment and Brocade fiber channel switches

    + Respond to help desk escalations

    + Provide technical recommendations and decisions to the Team Leader of the Storage Team and to the Director of Computing Infrastructure & Services

    + Planning and executing growth and expansion

    + Technical resource to internal programmers and vendors for best practices

    + Responsible for recommending hardware and software purchasing and configuration for enterprise windows hosting server environments

    + Participate in technical meetings

    + Create and maintain thorough documentation (standard operating procedures) for all job-related activities

    + Provide monitoring and feedback for vendors for troubleshooting code drops and recommend fixes

    + Support application hosting (physical, virtual, enterprise) environments within the group

    + Manage and troubleshoot licensing issues if they arise

    + Interface with Technical Support to resolve any open support cases involving on premise or Cloud based issues.

     

    WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU....

     

    + Experience in enterprise storage administration, configuration, and support.

    + Experience in fiber channel switch administration.

    + Experience in Microsoft Windows Server Administration.

    + Experience with Microsoft 365 (government tenant preferably)

    + Experience in PowerShell.

    + Experience in Python programming.

    + Experience working to resolve problems or in implementing new solutions.

    + Experience using a ticket management system for work prioritization and daily workload management. Experience with virtualization.

    + Experience with Active Directory.

    + Experience with DNS.

    + Experience with network segmentation.

    + Experience with Windows Server performance monitor and network monitor utilities

    + Experience with Windows Event Viewer and various applications logs and utilities

    + Experience working to resolve problems or in implementing new solutions

    + Experience using a ticket management system for work prioritization and daily workload management.

    + Knowledge of cloud providers, specifically Microsoft Azure

    + Knowledge of VMware vSphere and VMware ESXi virtualization

    + Knowledge of hyperconverged technologies for compute and storage

    + Knowledge of operating systems on servers and PCs.

    + Knowledge of complex software applications on servers, PCs, and networks.

    + Knowledge of proper computer system data security/backup procedures.

    + Understanding of common network protocols and virtualization networking

    + Understanding of current industry standards and best practices

    + Understanding of secure server builds and compliance controls

    + A positive and proactive approach in identifying problems, and problem resolution techniques.

    + Ability to understand and contribute to functional requirements and translate them into technical design and development projects.

    + Ability to clearly document features, technical specifications, and infrastructure requirements for self-produced technical work and job processes.

    + Ability to develop and manage user-oriented computing activities.

    + Ability to develop and coordinate training programs.

    + Ability to train personnel in all phases of computer utilization and application.

    + Ability to communicate effectively.

    + Ability to write clearly and effectively.

    + Ability to troubleshoot and solve complex technical computer problems.

    + Ability to perform research and make recommendations to management on technical computer issues.

    + Ability to draft agency automated information system policies, procedures, and standards.

    + Ability to perform work requiring lifting and/or physical exertion may be required.

    + Must be able to continuously monitor industry trends, technologies, and standards and be able to research, recommend, and apply new technologies as they emerge.

    PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO APPLICANTS WHO HAVE:

    + Expert level enterprise storage experience

    + Expert level knowledge and experience working in a Microsoft Azure / 365 government environment

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + A minimum of 6 years of a combination of related post-secondary education, technical certifications, or technology related work experience. Related training, internship experience etc. may be credited as related experience on a month-per-month basis.

     

    The selected candidate will be required to pass the required background checks(fingerprinting may be required) as a condition of employment.
