Description
We are looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide strategic leadership and oversee all financial operations for our organization based in Santa Rosa, California. This role offers the opportunity to drive the financial strategy of a mission-focused nonprofit organization with a budget of $30+ million. The CFO will work closely with the executive team, board of directors, and finance committee to ensure financial health and alignment with organizational goals.

Responsibilities:
• Develop and implement the annual budget, including forecasting cash flow and allocating resources effectively.
• Monitor financial performance against established goals and identify areas for improvement.
• Prepare and present accurate financial statements and reports to the board of directors and executive leadership.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards, and nonprofit tax laws.
• Establish and maintain robust internal controls to mitigate risks and enhance accountability.
• Manage the audit process and maintain communication with auditors, tax professionals, and finance committees.
• Oversee restricted funds from grants and government funding, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
• Provide strategic financial analysis to support new initiatives, programs, and grant opportunities.
• Collaborate with leadership to develop long-term financial strategies aligned with the organization’s mission.
• Lead and manage a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of accountability and engagement0+
Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; a master’s degree is preferred but not required.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in accounting, finance, or related fields, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Strong expertise in nonprofit financial management.
• Proven ability to coordinate audit activities and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Proficiency in accounting software systems and GAAP principles.
• Exceptional communication skills, with experience presenting financial information to boards and stakeholders.
• Mission-driven mindset with a collaborative and results-oriented leadership style.
• Knowledge of government grants, restricted funds, and donor compliance regulations.
