Description We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Intermediate Accountant to join our team in Monterey, California. This Contract-to-permanent position offers an opportunity to contribute to the financial operations of a mission-driven organization, ensuring compliance, accuracy, and transparency in all accounting processes. Responsibilities:

• Prepare and reconcile general ledger accounts, journal entries, and financial adjustments to maintain accurate records.

• Assist in the development and presentation of financial reports for internal stakeholders, grantors, and donors.

• Monitor grant tracking and reporting processes to ensure compliance with funding requirements and proper allocation of expenses.

• Oversee accounts payable and receivable activities, including invoice processing, coding, and revenue tracking.

• Support annual audits and tax filings, such as Form 990, by providing necessary documentation and information.

• Contribute to the budgeting process and track departmental expenditures against approved budgets, providing variance analyses as needed.

• Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance financial controls and streamline accounting workflows.

• Collaborate with team members to improve the functionality and efficiency of accounting systems.

• Provide financial insights and guidance to non-financial stakeholders to support decision-making.

• Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and organizational policies. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

• At least 5 years of experience in nonprofit accounting or a related field, with a strong understanding of nonprofit financial management.

• Proficiency in accounting software, such as QuickBooks or NetSuite, and advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and formulas.

• Familiarity with grant reporting and fund accounting is highly desirable.

• Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to meet strict deadlines.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for presenting financial data to diverse audiences.

• Experience with tools such as ADP, CaseWare, Ceridian, and Concur is a plus.

• Certification in accounting or financial management is preferred but not required.
