JOB DESCRIPTION:This is professional services work of a managerial nature directing support functions of the Board's Claims Management Unit (CMU). The CMU is one of the Board's core administrative units and is responsible for processing and verifying accuracy of mandatory regulatory filings for workers' compensation claims. Responsibilities include setting and enforcing unit policies, coordinating with Board professional staff and providing input to development of Board policies, rules and statutory provisions. Supervision is exercised over professional, technical and clerical employees. Work is performed under limited supervision.
REPRESENTATIVE TASKS:
Plans, organizes, assigns and directs the work of staff to facilitate attainment of unit work goals and ensure consistent application of Board policies, procedures and guidelines. Manages unit operations and programs to establish operational priorities; coordinates operations with other units to ensure program objectives and standards are established and attained. Analyzes operational conditions in order to recommend improvements in policies and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
+ Knowledge of workers' compensation laws, rules, policies and procedures.Knowledge of State civil service laws and rules.
+ Knowledge of business management.
+ Knowledge of office management procedures and practices.
+ Knowledge of personnel management.
+ Knowledge of employee training and development.
+ Ability to supervise subordinate personnel.
+ Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
+ Ability to establish program objectives and performance goals and assess progress.
+ Ability to plan, assign and direct the work of others.
+ Ability to initiate, implement and evaluate administrative procedures.
+ Ability to use applicable computer programs.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education, training, and/or experience in Business/Public Administration, Accounting, Economics, or another related field demonstrating competency in coordinating business operations, reviewing and maintaining records, and acting in a leadership capacity.
