Description

We are looking for a dedicated Medical Billing Specialist to join our team on a contract basis. In this role, you will focus on managing the billing processes for mental health services with precision and accuracy. This is a remote position; however, candidates must reside in or near Cincinnati, Ohio, to occasionally attend in-person meetings or training sessions.

Responsibilities:

• Process and submit mental health insurance claims, adhering to federal, state, and payer-specific regulations.

• Utilize EMR or similar billing systems to handle claims, post payments, and reconcile accounts.

• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, denials, and issues to maintain accurate accounts receivable.

• Develop and manage financial spreadsheets using advanced Excel functions, such as pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, for reporting and analysis.

• Communicate with insurance providers, clients, and internal teams to address payment inquiries and resolve claims issues.

• Accurately document all billing activities to ensure compliance with auditing standards.

• Assist in month-end reporting and reconciliation to support financial accuracy.

• Stay informed about updates to mental health billing codes and reimbursement guidelines.

• Collaborate with clinicians, administrative staff, and management to streamline billing workflows.

Requirements

• Demonstrated experience with EMR or comparable clinical billing systems in a mental health setting.

• Comprehensive knowledge of insurance billing practices, including Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance claims.

• Minimum of two years' experience in medical billing, preferably within behavioral health services.

• Advanced proficiency in Excel, including the use of pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and conditional formatting.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.

• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with stakeholders.

• Ability to work independently in a remote environment while meeting deadlines.

• Must reside in or near Cincinnati, Ohio, and be available for occasional in-person meetings.
