About the Role:
Reporting to the Head of North America Insurance Legal, and as part of the senior leadership within the North America Insurance Legal team, this role will provide day-to-day legal business partner support to the Chief Executive Officer and senior leadership team of Lexington Insurance Company, AIG’s leading flagship Excess and Surplus Lines insurance carrier in North America. This role will also provide support to AIG’s leading North America Retail Property organization. This position will allow you to meaningfully impact the growth and success of these business units and contribute as a leader within the North America Legal team.
Responsibilities:
+ Providing day-to-day legal business partner support to Lexington Insurance Company and AIG’s North America Retail Property organization, as well as providing advice and business oriented legal strategies to surplus lines and admitted property and casualty insurance executives and underwriters with respect to transactional, regulatory, legal and compliance matters impacting the business objectives of the organization more broadly;
+ Working collaboratively with business stakeholders and product centers of expertise with respect to negotiating, drafting and/or reviewing insurance policies, endorsements, applications, policyholder notices, ancillary agreements and advertising and marketing materials in connection with various insurance coverages;
+ Assuming a senior leadership role within the North America Insurance Legal team, leading and mentoring a team of legal professionals supporting our Lexington Insurance Company, Western World and North America Retail Property organizations, unlocking the full potential in each colleague and empowering our people to grow as legal and insurance professionals and add more value to our customers and AIG.
+ Researching, analyzing and monitoring the legal/regulatory issues and trends impacting or potentially impacting surplus lines and admitted products and distribution of same, and acting as a subject matter expert and thought leader with respect to these issues;
+ Leveraging product line subject matter expertise and knowledge of our business, collaborate with regulatory colleagues to address regulatory matters impacting the relevant business units, including responses to inquiries on insurance regulatory issues and resolution of regulatory and customer complaints; and
+ Gaining a thorough understanding of AIG’s Excess and Surplus Lines and North America Retail Property businesses and the markets in which they operate.
Education and Experience:
+ Familiarity with surplus lines-specific legal issues across property and casualty insurance products, the business of insurance and insurance regulation.
+ 7+ years of experience in either a law firm or in-house legal department.
+ JD from an accredited law school and strong academic credentials.
+ Admitted to practice in at least one state.

+ Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment; and
+ Sound legal and business judgment.

For positions based in New York, the base salary range is $231,000-$289,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable incentive plan.
