    Brief Position Overview

    The Leadership Institute Training and Development Coordinator will support the administration and organization of a dynamic, multi-faceted program that prepares students to thrive in an ever-changing world by providing inspiration, challenge, and support through all stages of their leadership journey. This role will work closely with a wide variety of campus partner and will be expected to work collaboratively to strengthen existing partnerships as well as build and maintain new partnerships.

     

    The Training and Development Coordinator will work alongside the Director to organize and implement the training and oversight of 10-12 student employees, which will include ongoing coaching and mentoring to help them develop as effective leadership educators and group facilitators.

     

    The Training and Development Coordinator will develop and lead leadership development workshops to meet the unique needs of students and campus partners, as well as support student staff in the development of new workshops and experiential leadership and service opportunities.

     

    The Training and Development Coordinator will use a data-informed approach to program development, in alignment with industry best practices and the Leadership Institute and Montana State University’s strategic plan. The position requires strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to role-modeling effective leadership behaviors while working with all stakeholders.

    Position Details

    General Statement

    The Leadership Institute Training and Development Coordinator serves to support the administration and organization of all programming of the Leadership Institute (LI). They are dedicated to being an accessible mentor to student staff and a collaborative campus partner. This person reports to the Director and co-facilitates the training and oversight of 10-12 student employees as well as acts as a lead trainer on various leadership development trainings and workshops. This position will also be responsible for building new partnerships across campus and in the Bozeman community to continue to expand and strengthen leadership development opportunities for all MSU students.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    This position reports to the Director of the Leadership Institute and coordinates closely with numerous campus partners to help prepare all MSU students to thrive in an ever-changing world by inspiring, challenging, and supporting them at all stages of their leadership journeys. This position will require some evening and weekend work.

    Duties include:

    + Implement, and continually assess a comprehensive student employee leadership development program.

    + Create student-centered educational materials on a variety of topics related to leadership development.

    + Plan and facilitate group workshops, events, and learning opportunities, including off-campus leadership retreats and on-campus conferences.

    + Coach and mentor students to deliver effective leadership development programs.

    + Collaborate with various campus partners and stakeholders to design leadership development programming catered to their needs.

    + Work with MSU students and campus partners to collect, manage, and analyze data to determine future leadership development needs.

    + Build new partnerships across campus and in the Bozeman community to continue to expand and strengthen leadership development opportunities for MSU students.

    + Lead program and event evaluation processes, assist in annual review and identifying trends.

    + Assist Director in strategic planning, outreach & development, and budgeting.

    + Performing other related duties as assigned or requested.

    Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

    + Combination of education and/or applicable experience equivalent to a bachelor’s degree in education, business, or other related field or experience.

    + Experience with college student programming and/or leadership development programs.

    + Experience facilitating workshops and/or classes.

    + Progressively responsible management experience, including facilitating employee goal setting and performance evaluations.

    + Demonstrated strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

    Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills

    + Master’s degree in Student Affairs Administration, Public Administration, Student Development, Higher Education, Counseling, or related field.

    + Prior experience in project management, including program design, budgeting, and program evaluation.

    + Prior experience writing curriculum.

    + Prior experience supervising and mentoring college student staff members.

    + An understanding of student development, student affairs, and university processes.

    + Demonstrate competence organizing and prioritizing multiple work assignments, meeting deadlines, and exercising adaptability to changing priorities while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.

    + Create and maintain a rapport with student leaders to collaborate towards achieving student-led initiatives.

    + Can enthusiastically work with student groups, faculty, staff, and community to plan Leadership Institute events and programming.

    + Can communicate the value of leadership involvement to a wide audience.

    + Possesses a growth mindset and a commitment to continuous improvement.
