Job Summary
The Senior HVAC Technician is responsible to perform a variety of master-level mechanical and pressure/temperature equipment repairs and maintenance requiring close interface with other trade/craft functions. Perform other semi-skilled tasks in the general maintenance of the physical plant and provide work direction to others performing HVAC projects.
This position will work on-site at the Wayne, PA Charles River site. Position will also be responsible to travel to additional CRL sites located in Malvern and Philadelphia.
Position is scheudled to work Monday - Friday, from 9am - 5pm.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Monitor and maintain HVAC systems including high/low temperature, water and electricity. Isolate and identify malfunctioning equipment for repair, adjustment, and replacement. Interpret instructions as required.
* Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts to ensure correct functioning of systems. May calibrate equipment.
* Perform adjustments, repairs and replacement of parts and equipment following written specifications such as blueprints, drawings and schematics.
* Dismantle equipment/fixtures and plan systematic replacement or repair of accessories and parts and return equipment to operation.
* Oversee HVAC-related tasks being performed by other department personnel.
* Inspect completed work for quality, safety, and proper operation.
* Coordinate maintenance work with other departments and divisions; maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work.
* Periodically perform preventative maintenance programs as required.
* Perform other semi-skilled tasks as assigned to assist in the general maintenance of the physical plant.
* Respond to emergencies as needed. Provide 24-hour on-call maintenance coverage, as scheduled in rotation.
* May perform waste vacuum maintenance.
* Take proper safety precautions and utilize appropriate safety gear/equipment in the performance of all duties.
* Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Education: High school diploma or General Education Degree (G.E.D.) and trade school diploma.
* Experience: Four to six years related experience.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
* Certification/Licensure: Valid HVAC license (where required by state).
* Valid Driver's License.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
* The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions.
* While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.
* The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Compensation Data
The pay range for this position is $35.63/hr. USD. Please note that salaries vary within the range based on factors including, but not limited to, experience, skills, education, certifications, and location.
