Workdays/Hours: Monday-Friday/6:30 A.M. to 3:00 P.M
This position is devoted to providing journey electrical, HVAC and emergency power repairs and maintenance. Performs specialized electrical repair, overseeing projects and other electrician staff. Decision-making includes how and when tasks are carried out within an operational process, limited by the selection of the process and establishment of deadlines and outcomes. Responsible for serving as an escalation point for complex problems; providing support to the supervisor with routine reporting, making work assignments; mentoring and training; performing the work of an electrician; managing emergency calls; and overseeing projects. As assigned, may serve as a lead worker, assigning work and monitoring work completion.
Duties/Responsibilities
+ Performs preventative and general maintenance on electrical, HVAC, safety, utility, and related systems, equipment, and devices; diagnoses and troubleshooting issues, to include using computer-controlled and specialized programs, systems, and software; serves as an escalation point for resolving complex problems; and ensures compliance with applicable safety and operational requirements, policies, and procedures.
+ Assists the supervisor by preparing work assignments; schedules repairs; mentors and trains staff; tracks job changes and customer concerns; monitors contractor operations; documents and reports operations; and ensures compliance with applicable safety and operational policies and procedures.
+ Assists with coordinating project operations, to include providing technical assistance, and coordinating with vendors and other staff, City departments, and agencies to ensure adequate and appropriate project material availability; ensures compliance with applicable contract, safety, and other project requirements, standards, and procedures.
+ Responds to emergency requests and performs emergency repairs and coordinates repairs with vendors and other staff.
+ Performs office support duties to include answering phones, providing information to internal and external parties, performing data entry, researching information, filing and retrieving documents, maintaining databases, and performing related.
+ Installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems and equipment.
+ Serving as an escalation point to facilitate complex issue resolution.
+ Assisting the supervisor by preparing routine reports, preparing work assignments, and mentoring and training other staff.
+ Performing and coordinating preventative maintenance operations for HVAC and building control equipment, systems, and devices.
+ Providing technical and administrative support to the HVAC supervisor.
+ Monitoring contractor operations.
+ Maintaining online systems and databases.
+ Coordinating with internal and external parties to facilitate operations.
+ Working with or trouble shooting relay controls, motor control centers, soft-starts, variable frequency drives, and industrial switchgear powered by single or three phase power.
+ Making minor repairs to emergency back-up generators
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
+ High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED, HiSET, TASC)
+ One year of additional technical training
+ Five years of related trades experience.
+ Valid, unrestricted, North Carolina driver's license "or" if you currently have another states driver's license, must be willing and able to obtain a valid NC driver's license within 60 days of hire.
+ CFC Universal Refrigerant Certification.
+ North Carolina Electrical Limited License.
+ Color vision.
+ This position is critical to emergency operations and will report to work in spite of or because of an emergency or disaster event.
Additional Preferred Skills
+ Experience working in an industrial, manufacturing, or water utility.
+ Two years’ experience working with a CMMS program.
+ Familiarity with using an Infrared thermography camera, Ultrasound probe equipment, and other handheld electrical meters.
+ Experience with work order systems, and the use of mobile applications for documenting and recording work.
+ Experience in making repairs in a commercial building.
+ Experience maintaining plumbing, HVAC and/or electrical systems.
