Full-time position (1.0 FTE), 10 months per year, school calendar position

+ Knowledge and successful employment experience in the Criminal Justice field.

+ Be able to clearly articulate key concepts and support students with CJ vocabulary, report writing and ELA lessons, forensic science, NYS Penal Law, and CPL.

+ Demonstrate attention to detail; able to keep attendance, calculate grades, track student work hours, monitor classroom inventory, and maintain accurate records on a daily basis.

+ Willing to collaborate with the instructor and other campus staff to conduct complex lessons including reality-based training scenarios and student skill practice.

+ Demonstrate leadership; support chain of command within the classroom, able to demonstrate calm command presence during crisis/discipline situations and also offer kindness/ESL for students in need.

+ Assist with special event planning and serve as professional and respected liaison with criminal justice agencies in our GST area.

+ Willing to participate in class fitness activities, substitute for instructor(s) as needed, and complete other duties as assigned.

+ Excellent communication skills and work ethic.

+ Implement 504 plans and IEP’s (Individualized Education Plans) for students with diverse learning needs.

+ Carry out all other duties as assigned by the Principal.

Job Qualifications

Valid NYS Teaching Assistant Certification; must possess at least a Level 1 Teaching Assistant Certificate or meet requirements to become certified

+ Experience working in the Criminal Justice field

+ Willingness to work with secondary students

+ Excellent interpersonal skills and work ethic

+ Willingness to grow as a professional

SALARY: Per Educational Association Contract. Plus comprehensive benefit package
