    Job Description

    Performs respiratory therapy as prescribed by a physician for the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease and illness. Sets up, operates and maintains respiratory equipment.

    Job Responsibility

    + * Ensures accurate and complete Physician prescription. Compares prescription requests with medical record order form and ensures information is complete. Clarifies any discrepancies with Physician.

    + * Provides patient/significant other with respiratory education. Explains treatment, tests and equipment uses.

    + * Provides prescribed respiratory therapy including: airway maintenance, emergency care, pulmonary function testing, cardio-respiratory rehabilitation and cardio-respiratory drug administration. Performs bedside vital capacity, inspiratory force peak flow measurements; administers various oxygen concentrations, aerosol medication devices and mechanical ventilators; supervises oxygen supported ambulation; performs chest physical therapy (cupping and coughing); provides and monitors mechanical ventilators on assigned unit; responds to Cardiac Team and STAT situations; performs oral suction, nasotracheal and tracheobroncial suction; performs with endotrachael intubation and airway maintenance.

    + Performs related duties, as required.

    *ADA Essential Functions

    Job Qualification

    + High School Diploma or equivalent, required.

    + AAS Degree in Respiratory Therapy or equivalent, required.

    + Current NYS Respiratory Therapist license, required.

    + Registration from the National Board of Respiratory Care, required.

    The salary range for this position is $59.38-$66.97/hour
