    Job Overview:

    Assists in the preparation and distribution of medications in a safe and effective manner under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and adheres to corporate/department policies and procedures as well as state and federal laws.

    Primary duties include:

    1. Intake of new prescriptions including pertinent patient information and answering department phone.

    2. Prepares/packages medications for pharmacist verification.

    3. Ability to interpret, calculate the data entry of prescriptions/insurance info.

    4. Calling insurance companies to resolve issues.

    5. Initiating Prior Authorization process.

    6. Assists in pharmacy inventory management: inventory returns, restocking shelves, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, monitor for outdated drugs, and physical inventory preparation.

    7. Assists patients/ring out sales at POS while providing quality customer service in a timely manner.

    8. Process bank deposits.

    9. Assists with prescription filing.

    10. Follows USP <800> medication regulations when required.

    11. Records the temperatures of the refrigerator and ambient room as required by NJ Board of Pharmacy.

    12. Assists with ordering and maintaining the OTC (over-the counter) section within your department.

    Qualifications:

    Required:

    + HS Diploma or GED equivalent required.

    + One year of retail pharmacy with strong data entry experience required and must be at least 18 years of age and demonstrate command of the English language as required by NJ Board of Pharmacy regulations.

    + Work, volunteer, or shadowing experience in the healthcare field required.

    Preferred:

    + Knowledge of Epic Willow Ambulatory pharmacy management software preferred.

    + Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) preferred or equivalent experience.

    Certifications and Licenses Required:

    + Must maintain an active pharmacy technician registration as required by NJ Board of Pharmacy

    Scheduling Requirements:

    + Full Time, Day shift and some weekends when necessary.

    + Clocking in/out for shifts is required.
