Job Summary
The Georgia Department of Education - School Nutrition Unit is searching for an experienced Compliance Specialist to p rovide technical assistance to school systems which are deficient and/or non-compliant in federal accountability standards for the National School Lunch, Breakfast, After School Snack and Seamless Summer programs. Duties include but are limited to:
Job Duties:
+ Responsible for planning and overseeing the Administrative Review Process
+ Responsible for conducting a second party review of the Administrative Reviews, communicating with School Food Authorities the results and corrective actions necessary, and managing fiscal action as required
+ Responsible for assigned Administrative Reviews (AR) either as the Lead AR or assisting AC and completes the review within the USDA required time limits
+ Monitor compliance and progress of grant recipients’ program through off-site and on-site evaluations and reviews of plans and reports
+ Interpret state and federal laws, regulations, instructions and policies for local, state and federal agencies and allied organizations
+ Serve as team-lead on various projects as required and a nalyzes technical data to help monitor the programs
+ Reviews for compliance, all training, administrative reviews and all other documents, communication or software as needed or required
+ Successfully interact with all appropriate levels of federal, state and local government in a way that promotes respect, encourages cooperation and contributes to excellent performance of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program
+ Develop and delivers training, support and resources for the School Nutrition Program
+ Collaborate on the completion and submission of required USDA reports
+ Assist directly or indirectly local systems and boards in the implementation of overall goals of the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program by interpreting applicable state and federal laws, regulations and policies, financial and participation reports for state staff, public and private school personnel
+ Evaluate programs using required data and tools to verify compliance
+ Complete special projects and other duties as assigned
Preference will be given to applicants who, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
+ Master’s degree in education, education administration, nutrition or a related field with strong emphasis on school nutrition programs and three years of full-time leadership experience with K-12 school nutrition programs
+ Georgia Professional Standards Commission School Nutrition Director certification
+ 3 years' experience managing federal grants and state /local contracts
+ 3 years' experience in interpreting state/federal laws and with policy development
+ Professional licensure/registration in dietetics
+ Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
+ Experience in planning and conducting training
+ ServSafe® Certified (Instructor)

High school diploma/GED and seven (7) years of program management experience; or two (2) years of experience required at the lower level Education Prgm Spec 3 (EDP032) or position equivalent.
