Starting Salary: $8,658.00 Monthly

Under general supervision, develop and presents training programs in the operation and maintenance of automotive and power equipment and develop and presents training programs relevant to airfield operations at O’Hare Vehicle Services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Train Motor Truck Drivers on the proper and safe operation of a large variety of motorized equipment including snowplows, tow trucks, sweepers, etc.
• Provide practical training to drivers on safety-critical skills and procedures for operating and escorting motorized vehicles on the airport’s runways.
• Maintains accurate records of training and skill evaluations.
• Properly and thoroughly train individuals to use air traffic control radio and airfield geographic knowledge to drive on the airport movement areas legally and safely.
• Certify that an individual meets the requirements and has demonstrated the necessary skills to be certified as an Advanced Airfield Driver.
• Able to create presentations of educational materials.
• Able to practically demonstrate procedures during hand on.
• Familiar with airport policies and procedures.
• Competent in Microsoft Office products.

Qualifications:
**MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS** **:** Three years of work experience as a Motor Truck Driver, including at least one year instruction experience in the safe operations of automotive and power equipment.
Licensure, Certifications, or Other Qualifications
Applicants must possess a Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class “A” or “B” with both a "P"** **and** **"X" endorsement at the time of hire and maintain this throughout his or her employment.
Applicants cannot have an Air Brake ("L") restriction on their Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
Note: The candidates selected for hire must pass an airport background check and Security Threat Assessment.
Note: Candidate MUST possess and maintain the red-stripe certification at the time of hire and during employment.

EQUIPMENT
• Standard office equipment (e.g., telephone, printer, photocopier, fax machine, calculator)

• Personal protective equipment (e.g., hard hat, shoes, glasses, vests, pads)
• Communication equipment (e.g., two-way radio, tower radio, dispatch equipment)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Some lifting (up to 25 pounds) is required
• Ability to stand and walk for extended or continuous periods of time
• Ability to operate automotive vehicles and associated equipment
• Ability to work various hours/ shifts
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER WORK REQUIREMENTS
Knowledge
Moderate knowledge of:
• Applicable safety code standards specific to the operation of trucks and heavy equipment including OSHA standards.
. Applicable airfield FAA regulations specific to the operation on the Airfield (Part 139.303)
• Training practices and procedures
• Repair, maintenance, ad preventative maintenance procedures applicable to automotive and heavy equipment
• Computer operation and applicable software applications
Some knowledge of:
• Applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines
• Geographical locations within the city and applicable facilities
• Automotive mechanical and electronic systems, equipment, and materials
• Applicable communications equipment and devices
• Manufacturer’s manuals for servicing equipment
• Use of safety equipment and protective gear
• Applicable emergency operations
. Knowledge of applicable City and Department policies, procedures, rules, and regulations
