Job Title: Field Service Engineer
Job Description
The primary responsibility of the Field Service Engineer is to perform checkout and verification of project sites and develop general controls and contracting skills. The engineer will spend most of the work week on project sites, traveling directly to and from these sites and home.
Responsibilities
+ Perform checkout and verification of project sites.
+ Conduct a point-to-point checkout of all equipment on the assigned job.
+ Complete a checkout book detailing point-to-point verification, including all physical points on the project.
+ Make detailed notes of locations of physical equipment.
+ Verify all hardware according to appropriate guidelines.
+ Note offsets, calibrations, issues, or failures in the checkout book.
+ Communicate daily with Project Manager, Project Engineer, Field Supervisor, or Field Engineer assigned to the project.
+ Troubleshoot issues with any equipment on the project site.
+ Write service tickets for issues outside the scope of the project.
+ Contact supervisor for issues outside of skill set and technical support when unable to resolve with supervisor.
+ Create and maintain daily logs, noting completed equipment checkouts, problems or issues, and interference from other contractors.
+ Understand the project scope, hours allotted for tasks, and review submittals, mechanical drawings, specifications, and pertinent details.
+ Identify potential change orders and notify the supervisor.
+ Perform responsibilities with respect for self and company, including punctuality, appropriate dress, vehicle maintenance, timely communication, and adherence to safety guidelines.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE).
+ Hands-on internship experience with equipment.
+ Ability to troubleshoot mechanical-based equipment.
+ Ability to troubleshoot electrical-based equipment.
+ Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, engineering drawings, mechanical drawings, and schematics.
+ Willingness to travel 100% of the time within Illinois.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience working with mechanical equipment such as boilers, chillers, air handlers, Variable Air Volume (VAV) systems, Fan Coil Units (FCUs), and Unit Ventilators (UVs).
Work Environment
The work environment is dynamic, involving direct reporting to staff and receiving direction from field service engineers. The position requires adherence to project and personal safety guidelines and maintaining professional attire while onsite.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $80000.00 - $90000.00/yr.
