Exciting Opportunity for a Geotechnical Engineer in NYC!

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Geotechnical Engineer to develop scopes of work for proposals, review engineering design analyses, and oversee junior staff during subsurface explorations. The role involves preparing engineering reports in accordance with relevant building codes and providing Special Inspection oversight for various geotechnical processes.

Responsibilities

+ Develop scopes of work for proposals.

+ Review engineering design analyses related to allowable bearing pressures, settlement analysis, deep foundation, liquefaction, and site-specific seismic designs.

+ Perform oversight and manage junior staff during subsurface explorations.

+ Review engineering analyses performed by junior staff, including those related to slope stability, settlement and consolidation, deep foundation design, and support of excavation design.

+ Prepare engineering reports, including evaluating field and laboratory results, in accordance with the NYC Building Code and other IBC-based codes.

+ Provide Special Inspection oversight for deep foundation testing and installation, subgrade inspection, controlled filling and in-place density testing, and installation of underpinning and support of excavation systems.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.

+ 6-8 years of Geotechnical Engineering experience.

+ EIT and on track to obtain PE; PE perferred

+ Proficiency in geotechnical analysis software such as Slide, LPile, and PLAXIS.

+ Experience with AutoCAD.

+ OSHA 10, 30, or 40 certification.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Geotechnical design experience.

+ Experience with inspection oversight for deep foundation testing and installation.

+ Experience with subgrade inspection, controlled filling, and in-place density testing.

+ Experience with installation of underpinning and support of excavation systems.

Work Environment

The office is located in Lower Manhattan.. You will oversee junior engineers performing inspections and reviewing engineering drawings. Employees have the flexibility to choose between working four 10-hour days or five 8-hour days.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $63.00/hr.
