We are seeking an Electrical Engineer to be responsible for the engineering design, analysis, and documentation of aerodynamic structures and mechanical systems & sub-assemblies. The role involves the design, development, and testing of electrical systems as part of a fast-paced, multidisciplinary Aerospace and SATCOM R&D team. These systems include aircraft harness design, development and assessment of systems, aircraft power management, and RF and antenna testing.
Responsibilities
+ Evaluate existing electrical systems, components, and applications through testing and implementation.
+ Diagnose issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement repairs.
+ Identify functional gaps in existing systems and determine solutions.
+ Conduct feasibility studies for new technical requirements and projects.
+ Design, build, and test electrical components and systems.
+ Create electrical diagrams, block diagrams, and interface control documents.
+ Design conceptual wiring diagrams and release detailed wiring diagrams.
+ Implement Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) segregation routes based on signal type.
+ Implement Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) protection.
+ Perform electrical integration.
+ Select wires/cables to satisfy signal type, current, voltage, EMC, and EMI aircraft requirements.
+ Support technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total harness air vehicle design.
+ Model harness products, including 3-D modeling, space claims, overall air vehicle routing and integration concepts, wire harness drawings, schematic creation, and associated documentation of cable harnesses.
+ Participate in concurrent engineering phases for harness installation, and support aircraft integration and testing on-site if necessary.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university.
+ 7+ years of experience in the design of electrical systems for aviation.
+ Knowledge of AS50881 (Wiring Aerospace Vehicle).
+ Experience with first article testing of newly designed components.
+ Experience creating/modifying code for testing/debugging new systems.
+ Proficiency with electronic instruments such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and spectrum analysis.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft software.
+ Experience with AutoCAD, SolidWorks Electrical, or similar CAD drafting products.
+ US Citizenship.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience within the aircraft industry (DOD and/or Commercial), aerospace engineering, systems integration, satellite communication, and airworthiness.
Work Environment
The work environment is a combination of an office setting and field work at Hurlburt. Flexibility with hours is required, with a typical schedule of 8-5, but potential for overtime and late hours depending on business demands and deadlines. The company has 15 current employees, and the role involves significant interaction with all engineering disciplines. The position reports directly to the Engineering Manager. The dress code is business casual. The company culture is described as a work family, with a strong emphasis on communication and teamwork.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $75.00/hr.
