As a Manufacturing Production Technician Apprentice in our Wyandotte, MI production plants, you will make an impact on the world with a fundamental focus on sustainability and innovation. As a Manufacturing Production Technician Apprentice, you will be a part of a team that produces products that range from automotive to home care!

Starting in August 2025, you…

Will begin an academic program at Henry Ford College while working and learning at our Wyandotte manufacturing site from some of the best in the business. During your time in BASF’s apprenticeship program, we don’t want you to worry about the cost of your education so BASF will cover the entire cost of your educational program, including tuition, books, and fees!

When you’re not studying you will have opportunities to…

Work hands-on in our Wyandotte production plants learning how to:

+ Operate compressors, pumps, reactors, heat exchangers, steam boilers, valves, tanks, pressure vessels, instrument control systems, forklifts, hoists, flare systems, scales, lab testing equipment, computers, and other associated manufacturing equipment.

+ Operate the plant includes controlling flows, pressures, reactions, temperatures, makeup of solutions from batch sheets and formula cards, transfer of solutions/batches, loading/unloading chemicals to and from tanks, trucks, and rail cars.

+ Handle of various hazardous chemicals.

+ Identify and wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

+ Understand the operation and capabilities of the equipment in their area.

+ Cross train in additional production areas and supporting other members of the team in achieving a task or solving a problem.

+ Disassemble and clean plant equipment, piping and pressure vessels.

+ Recognize and eliminate safety hazards.

+ Demonstrate sound judgment by adhering to EHS requirements while planning and executing a job.

+ Recognize and eliminate safety hazards. Accept and demonstrate personal accountability for EHS performance.

+ Perform all necessary production/testing to ensure that product meets product specifications and tolerances for in-process product and release specifications for shipment of the product.

+ Operate and manage (troubleshoot) their respective areas and making safe, prompt, and effective decisions.

+ Occasionally handle drums and drum dollies.

+ Additional duties are designated by the respective areas.

If you...

+ Have a High School Diploma or GED

+ Will work 12hr shifts (day OR night/weekends and holidays)

+ Can work in a plant environment and lift 50lbs.

+ Ability to stand extended amounts of time.

+ Able to work in hot or cold environments.

+ Are able to work 12hr fixed shifts (day OR night/weekends and holidays)

+ Are willing to enroll in an academic program to launch a career in Manufacturing
