Job Title: Survey Party ChiefJob Description

The Survey Party Chief will play a crucial role in the surveying of boundary, topographic surveying, and construction staking for new commercial plots. The position involves managing a small team and utilizing advanced equipment to ensure accurate and efficient surveying processes.

Responsibilities

+ Conduct boundary surveying and topographic surveying.

+ Perform construction staking for new build commercial plots.

+ Manage a team of one person who acts as a helper.

+ Utilize Trimble equipment and Robotic Total Station to capture images of plots.

+ Communicate effectively with contractors and adjacent landowners.

+ Ensure process orientation and accuracy in project execution.

Essential Skills

+ Proficiency in survey techniques with at least 4 years of relevant experience.

+ Experience in leading crews of 1-2 people.

+ Ability to read and interpret construction plans and related documents.

+ Skilled in topographic surveys, robotic total station, GPS, ALTA surveys, and construction staking.

+ Strong observation skills and attention to detail.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ 4+ years of current work experience in construction staking, boundary surveying, topographic survey, and ALTA surveys.

+ 2+ years of experience with Robotic Total Station or other GPS equipment.

+ Excellent communication skills to liaise with contractors and community members.

Work Environment

The position is within a civil engineering and land surveying firm that specializes in private land development and surveying projects across Iowa and surrounding states. The work involves collaboration in teams of 1-2 and fosters a work-hard, play-hard culture. Employees enjoy recreational activities such as golf outings and playing ping pong. The role requires meeting at the office in the morning to pick up a truck before heading to the work site.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.50 - $41.00/hr.
