    Job Title: Packaging Operator

    Job Description

    This position of Packaging Operator is responsible for all packaging functions. The Packaging Operator will run the Packaging Unit to meet quality, productivity, and packaging standards. Additionally, forklift operation is required as needed. Adherence to all Work Instructions is mandatory.

    Responsibilities

    + Check material running at finishing lines to ensure work codes and customer formats meet all customer packaging needs.

    + Secure necessary packaging materials in advance, such as skids, pallets, cardboard, paper, plastic, and banding.

    + Verify packaged material for accuracy and quality.

    + Confirm material weights and dunnage weights are correct and ensure proper parking locations are entered in the computer.

    + Coordinate movement of material through shipping bays, collaborating with Cranemen as needed.

    + Manage work at packaging lines for multiple coils exiting Slitter and Blanking Line for maximum efficiency.

    + Ensure coils are downended with correct pack codes, quality, and efficiency; verify weights and dunnage entries.

    + Maintain inventory of packing materials and tools, including wood, paper, plastic products, banding, shrink wrap guns, and propane.

    + Assist in packaging needs by reallocating packers or working alongside them for smooth operations.

    + Direct unanswered questions through the shipping section chain of command.

    + Monitor and address safety activities as necessary.

    + Train on-shift utility personnel in the packaging section and motivate pack crews to achieve outlined results.

    + Perform all other assigned tasks.

    Essential Skills

    + Forklift experience of at least 1 year.

    + Experience in packaging and shipping.

    + Ability to work in a warehouse environment.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment is required.

    + A minimum of 1-year experience operating a forklift is highly preferred.

    + High School Diploma or GED required.

    + Packing or shipping experience is preferred.

    Work Environment

     

    This is a clean stainless steel manufacturer/distributor. The warehouse is not climate controlled, resulting in hot conditions in summer and cold conditions in winter. Work hours are Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with availability from 5 AM to 5 PM for potential extended shifts. Weekend work may be required based on supply chain demands.

    This is a Contract to Hire position based out of PENDERGRASS, Georgia.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
