Description
The Associate Director position’s core responsibilities are to oversee our Company's compliance related to customs country of origin. In the origin space, responsibilities are to oversee our company’s customs country of origin program and lead efforts related to global customs origin reviews. CIT is primarily responsible for determining trade compliance requirements and processes, as well as executing select trade compliance functions that are best performed on a global and/or cross-divisional level. Among other centralized trade compliance activities, CIT implemented and continues to manage and monitor compliance with the Trade Agreements Act (TAA). CIT is also responsible for the management of customs country of origin marking requirements and the oversight of our company’s Free Trade Agreement usage. The Associate Director position’s key responsibilities are around these programs; as well as handling other trade related question and issues, on an as needed basis. The position is required to independently manage responsibilities and priorities, demonstrate strong trade and customs technical skills, work effectively within the team and inter-departmental project groups, and exhibit strong leadership behaviors and project management skills.
Responsibilities
+ Collaborate with team members on global duty mitigation strategies, including US Foreign Trade Zones and ex-US Foreign Trade Zone equivalents;
+ Effectively manage escalated questions and queries relating to customs country of origin on a daily basis;
+ Interface closely with colleagues in finance, accounting, tax and the various businesses to identify and understand our Company's complex transactions, and ensure that country of origin controls are in place and effective;
+ Participate in or direct cross-functional teams aiming to implement and manage complex origin control processes (such teams typically consisting of Finance, Tax, Logistics/Supply Chain, and Procurement);
+ Drive global initiatives to ensure the correct reporting of customs origin;
+ Manage the origin related content on teamsites;
+ Work with global trade management systems to ensure all origin master data and processes are maintained;
+ Oversee the outsourced Free Trade Agreement management activities and provide technical input, if required;
+ Design and maintain country of origin related process (such as processes to manage Trade Agreement Act and U.S. Country of Origin Marking compliance);
+ Develop and maintain customs origin standards and procedures; and to design and upgrade associated training materials;
+ Assist the ECO Global Trade Standards & Controls team in audits (provide input regarding origin requirements and internal processes and assist identifying findings);
+ Lead prior/voluntary disclosure efforts on origin issues, if required. Manage disclosure related CAPA;
+ Provide input on to CTPAT Trade Compliance self-assessment and Annual Notification Letter (ANL);
+ Create and maintain internal procedures covering the process steps of key activities;
+ Understand and interpret applicable legislation and monitor customs origin related legislative changes globally. Coordinate communication of changes to the business in collaboration with ECO Global Trade Standards & Controls team;
+ Consider and implement proactive enhancement to origin process;
+ Assist in developing and maintaining corporate and divisional policies, guidelines and standards that support compliant and efficient trade compliance systems;
+ Where compliance gaps are identified, assist designing solutions and implement enhancements;
+ Represent our Company in industry trade groups and advocacy efforts, as appropriate.
Qualifications and skills
+ Bachelor's degree required
+ Advanced degree preferred
+ Trade related certificate desirable
+ 6+ years functional expertise with international trade or equivalent
+ Developed conceptual and practical expertise in Customs country of origin issues is preferred
+ Global duty mitigation strategy including US FTZ knowledge and/or experience preferred
+ Prior experience interfacing with international companies
+ Hands-on experience using Microsoft products (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
+ Proficient in English
+ Demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills
+ Experience or ability to work with global trade management systems like SAP GTS or Integration Point, or similar databases, very desirable
+ Strong project management skills and ability to conduct complex reporting processes
+ Sustained level of high performance

The Company is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for this job in certain states and cities within the United States. Final determinations with respect to salary will take into account a number of factors, which may include, but not be limited to the primary work location and the chosen candidate’s relevant skills, experience, and education.
Expected US salary range:
$126,500.00 - $199,100.00
