THE POSITION

Are you passionate about safeguarding Pennsylvania's consumers, businesses, and manufacturers from deceptive practices and fraud? The Department of Agriculture is looking for candidates to fill the role of Weights and Measures Inspector, a crucial position dedicated to ensuring that products comply with state regulations and standards for measurement accuracy. Your expertise will help protect consumers by ensuring they receive accurate measurements for the products they purchase. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will inspect and conduct accuracy tests on weighing and measuring instruments utilized in commercial transactions. You will also inspect commodities that are packaged, sold, or available for sale based on weight, measure, or count. Additionally, you will oversee the audits of inspections carried out by Certified Examiners of Weights and Measures. This includes ensuring compliance with established standards and regulations. Furthermore, you will investigate claims of fraud and misconduct, taking appropriate enforcement measures to uphold integrity in commercial practices.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

+ Full-time employment

+ Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

+ This position will be home-headquartered if applicant lives in Chester County.

+ Travel will be required to cover counties in Region 7, which includes Chester, Schuylkill, Lehigh, Northampton, Bucks, Montgomery, Berks, Delaware, and Philadelphia counties.

+ Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position

+ Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

+ Four years of public contact work, including one year of experience in weights and measures inspections; and graduation from high school ;or

+ Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the requisite knowledge and skills and abilities with weights and measures inspections.

Additional Requirement:

+ This position requires possession of a valid PA Class C non-commercial driver's license.

+ You must be able to perform essential job functions.
