Job Description
The Iowa Public Employees’ Retirement System (IPERS) is seeking aRetirement Benefits Officerto work within the Member Services Bureau. Retirement Benefits Officers play an important role in the retirement journey. Retirement Benefits Officers assist members with pre-retirement counseling, provide retirement estimate, process retirement applications, and maintain member account information.
What You’ll Do:
+ Consult with IPERS membersvia telephone, virtually, and in person.
+ Gather informationto assist with pre-retirement planning.
+ Perform complex retirement benefit-related calculationsboth manually and using IPERS pension administration system.
+ Document member engagementin the pension administration system.
+ Provide front-line risk mitigation and fraud preventionthrough identity authentication process.
+ Perform troubleshooting and technical supportfor members using IPERS online digital portal.
+ Process retirement workflows, forms and applications.
+ Perform peer reviewof completed applications.
Individuals in this position may spend a considerable amount of time on the phone.

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree;
OR
one year of full-time experience in job interviewing referral and/or placement, credit investigation, collection work or related public contact work obtaining, analyzing and/or evaluating data may be substituted for each 30 semester hours of the required education to a maximum substitution of four years;
OR
employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes the equivalent of two years of full-time work as a Retirement Benefits Technician.
