About this job
The Process Engineer II position is responsible for leading small to medium scale projects and initiatives while meeting the business objectives. This position will lead a team which may consist of other Process Engineers and business areas to conduct analyses, design new standardized work, test new products, and work with other CarMax associates and vendors to create new processes. The Process Engineer II is responsible for working in partnership with peers, as well as independently on projects and programs.
The Process Engineer II utilizes technical expertise and knowledge to support and lead Field teams and Home Office teams. This position will work directly with stores, while simultaneously handling other departmental tasks at the same time.
What you will do – Essential Responsibilities
+ Technical Understanding/Capabilities
+ Able to use knowledge to repeat analyses with minimal direction on CarMax store tools, supplies, equipment, processes, and staffing reviews
+ Troubleshoot existing processes through Kaizen events to identify process opportunities
+ Monitor key performance metrics to identify areas of process failure through root cause analysis
+ Consult on efforts to optimize cost, quality, and speed through the design of work; focus areas including but not limited to Human Factors and Ergonomics, Facility Layout and Design, Operations Research, etc.
+ Assist in continuous improvement efforts in the Service Operations and Logistics business areas
+ Experience
+ Lead small to medium sized Process Engineering initiatives
+ Participate in cross-functional projects and programs
+ Influence/Input to Business Strategy
+ Provide feedback and ideas to the Field, Engineering, and Home Office teams on various projects
+ Develops tactical plans for self and project teams
+ Able to influence up impacting entry level management through a shared perspective and gained alignment
Qualifications and Requirements
+ Industrial Engineering degree required
+ Approximately 2-5 years of Lean experience preferred
+ 1-3 years’ experience with working on project teams
+ Identifies teachable moments to grow and develop others by serving as the go-to person and delivering timely feedback
+ Identifies problems and trends, takes the time to pause and assess, effectively prioritizes and offers sound recommendations
+ Seeks partners and collaborates appropriately with others to achieve team goals
+ Builds strong partnerships, speaks effectively and surfaces compelling ideas to business partners and the team
+ Stands out among peers as a leader by offering encouragement and motivating the team to embrace change to achieve goals
+ Travel: approximately 20-30% of the time, could exceed 30% depending on the project
+ Able to use applications such as AutoCAD and Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio
+ Work Location and Arrangement: This role will be based out of the CarMax Home Office in Richmond, VA and have a Hybrid work arrangement
+ Work Authorization: Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. Sponsorship will not be considered for this specific role
