CTG is seeking to fill a Technical Writer opening for our client in Austin, TX.
**Location:** Austin, TX (Onsite)
**Duration:** 2 months
**Pay:** Up to $69/hr
Duties:
+ Develops and maintains user and technical documentation, as well as project process documentation, for Information Technology teams.
+ Understands user perspectives and can sequence procedures logically and clearly.
+ Provides technical expertise in structuring complex documentation due to a broad understanding of various applications.
+ Writes a range of technical articles, reports, brochures, and manuals for a wide audience.
+ Coordinates the display of graphics and oversees document production as needed.
+ Performs highly advanced technical writing work, including the organization, editing, and composition of technical information with minimal supervision.
+ Independently handles complex technical writing tasks and may prepare and refine materials for speeches and public presentations.
+ Assists IT in documenting the IT environment, policies, procedures, and strategic plans.
+ Conducts detailed analysis and research on data to provide meaningful insights.
+ Develops and implements customer-focused metrics and reporting tools.
+ Supports quality improvement initiatives by streamlining processes through data visualization and analysis.
+ Promotes evaluative thinking and uses data to inform and improve operations, staff performance, and programs.
Skills:
+ Strong ability to compose, review, and edit technical documentation and reports.
+ Skilled in researching and organizing complex information into clear formats.
+ Able to consult effectively with technical teams to develop policy and procedural documents.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present updates and feedback to leadership.
+ Proficiency in developing customer-centric metrics and conducting data-driven analysis.
Experience:
+ 8 years – Required: Experience composing, reviewing, and editing technical documents and reports.
+ 8 years – Required: Experience developing and organizing policy and technical information.
+ 8 years – Required: Consulting with technical staff on documentation development.
+ 6 years – Required: Preparing responses to formal communications, including surveys and questionnaires.
+ 6 years – Required: Presenting technical updates to upper management and C-level stakeholders.
+ 5 years – Preferred: Technical writing experience in the public sector.
+ 5 years – Preferred: Knowledge of IT policies and procedures.
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Technical Writing, Information Technology, or related field preferred.
Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required.
