Summary You will serve as a SAFETY & OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGER in the Occupational Safety Health and Environment Branch (Code 1460.1), Technical Support Division (Code 1460) at the Naval Foundry and Propeller Center (NFPC) (Code 1400) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will identify technical and administrative developmental and training needs of employees. You will plan and schedule work on a weekly, quarterly and annual basis, which involves matters such as justifying new equipment and implementing major changes in work methods and procedures You will conduct inspections as required based upon workload. You will assist other departments and codes in achieving safety and health compliance and participates as a Safety Committee Member for Code 1460.1. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience demonstrating DoD, DoN and OSH laws, policies, regulations and standards relating to safety and environmental. Experience conducting environmental permitting in an industrial site. Experience demonstrating industrial safety and health principles to oversee the safety and environmental programs at NFPC. Experience providing written communication to regulatory activities. Experience utilizing a variety of hazard analysis, risk assessment techniques to identify and evaluate risks associated with the system and hazardous material stored or processed withing the center. Experience recognizing management practices, theories, and techniques and understanding the regulations and they relate to the work environment.
