Position Description
I. Specific Responsibilities and Duties
In addition to mutually agreed-upon goals developed in partnership with the laboratory director, the Visiting Scientist will assume the following responsibilities and duties:
General Academic and Teaching Responsibilities
+ Devote at least 10% of effort to the formal and informal instruction of postdoctoral fellows and postgraduate trainees in the Transplant Laboratory.
+ Provide mentorship to fellows, residents, students, and junior faculty; participate in graduate-level education and teaching activities.
+ Attend and actively engage in laboratory meetings, departmental grand rounds, and research conferences.
+ Maintain scholarly productivity and adhere to the institutional code of conduct for Visiting Scientists.
Research Responsibilities
+ Dedicate 90% effort to research activities, with a focus on small animal organ transplantation models aligned with your area of expertise.
+ Provide technical and experimental support to postdoctoral fellows, including hands-on training and oversight of research protocols.
+ Conduct both basic and translational research within the Division of Transplantation at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.
+ Serve as a physician-scientist contributing to the design, execution, and evaluation of translational research projects.
+ Act as a key point of contact and a consistent presence throughout the research period, supporting the collaborative efforts of a multidisciplinary research team.
+ Support and enhance ongoing research productivity and scientific excellence in the Division of Transplant Surgery.
+ Participate in the education and training of graduate students, postdoctoral fellows, and research interns.
+ Contribute to the division's clinical research initiatives, with a particular emphasis on clinical trials in transplantation.
Salary: Uncompensated
Job Type: Full Time
The listed salary range represents the minimum and maximum Johns Hopkins University offers for this position, based on a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Actual compensation will vary depending on factors such as location, skills, experience, market conditions, education, and internal equity. Not all candidates will qualify for the highest salary in the range.
